Touring KL : KL Hop On Hop Off

This is by far the most delayed post ever.
A post delayed for more than a year.

But I tell myself it’s okay, better late than never. /puppyeyes

I used to see KL Hop On Hop Off double deckerpass by me a lot whenever I’m around KL town.
And more often than not I wondered to myself what exactly is that double decker doing around KL town.
If you ever wondered just like me, here’s what it is about.
Basically it’s a double decker bus that tours around KL, carrying tourists and bringing them to KL’s main attraction from one spot to another.

KL HOP-ON HOP-OFF City Tour offer a pre-recorded commentary in nine different languages that will guide the tourist through the major sights and attractions in the city. A pre-recorded tour guide available by using headsets and it is designed for tourists to experience the places of attractions and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the past and present. The tour will also highlight the old and modern part of Kuala Lumpur that makes the city unique and vibrant.

It was a little more than a year back during January 2011 that we decided to hop onto that double decker bus. It was our first month together.

It was a sunny early noon. We drove to KL city and parked our car at Pavilion.
We then walked to Fahrenheit and get information from the information counter/ ticketing booth which is located right in front of Fahrenheit. The guy who attended me told me that we have to wait for about 30 minutes for the next KL Hop On Hop Off to come.

So while we wait, I decided to grab a piece of cake inside Fahrenheit.

* My durian cheesecake before we start our journey which is real gooooood from Su’s cake. Walked into Fahrenheit through the main entrance and you’ll see Su’s cake waiting for you right there.

* While waiting for KL Hop On Hop Off to come with a map on my hand and secretly feeling excited.

I went straight up to the upper deck once I get onto the bus. I always like double decker bus for it’s upper deck, especially if it is open air without a roof.

* KL Hop On Hop Off city tour.

Our first stop is China Town, Petaling Street and that’s where we had our lunch.

* You know how you got bored waiting for your food and there’s nothing better to do except taking pictures.

* One of my favorite food, asam laksa!

We initially planned to have a walk at China Town before we hop back onto our bus but it started raining.
In fact it was a heavy rain and I was pretty upset about it despite the sunny noon.
Left with no choice we just randomly walked into a cafe, grab a drink while we wait for the rain to stop.

No time to waste, we hop back onto the bus once the rain subsides.
The rain wasn’t that bad. The weather became really breezy afterwards.

* See, breezy! And this is how the open air upper deck looks like.

* When he’s not yet a fatty.

* Enjoying my ride, the scenery, and a whole new experience. (:

* Simple things in life make me happy. (:

* Sultan Abdul Samad building.

* Sunset. (:

Our last stop was KLCC.

* Took pictures as though we really are tourists.

* I didn’t know KLCC can give me a different experience. I enjoyed taking pictures there that day.

* And finally thank God my boyfriend is the adventurous type.

We did not manage to catch the last double decker bus back to stop 6 which is Fahrenheit because we I wanted to take pictures around KLCC.
And we don’t have a car, so we walked our way back to Pavilion. It’s not that far, it’s bearable.

We end our night having dinner at The Ship. There’s a number of The Ship in KL but we went to the one where my dad used to bring me.
I miss that place!

I had an unforgettable date that day.
I felt like a tourist and a little girl all together.

It is cheap, fun, entertaining, and even informative if you want it to be.
Here’s the price for ticket.

Ticket Type: STANDARD ADULT TICKET (For adult foreigners)

One stupid question.

I’ve asked a very stupid question today.
I’ll go into that later.

Ever since I discovered how colour contact lens can do wonders to my eyes or my look, I rarely stepped into club without putting it on.
Pictures of myself with make up on, I usually have my colour lens on as well, if you ever notice.
It just goes well with make up, though sometimes I try not to especially during day time.

I’ve heard news on what damage it can do to our eyes and to be frank, I’m scared sometimes.
Because I know I don’t have to do this to myself, my eyesight is fine. I don’t need whatever lens.
But I called it ‘girls being girls’ because I cant resist.
Like how people can never go black once they dye their hair.
Or how people can never go natural once they tried on fake lashes.
All these things are evil, and people who created these are money sucking fat bitch.

Girls still love ‘em, none the less.

My eyes hurt recently. I mean whenever I put on my colour lens.
There’s always something poking my eyes and it is hell irritating.
I knew it all along that my colour lens sometimes are not hygienic enough because my solution is running out and I try not to spend so much so I try to squeeze that bottle of solution less.
And today I Youtube on how to clean contact lenses only to find out the amount of solution I squeezed can probably only clean one of my finger tip.
Yes, that bad.

So I decided to go buy a bottle of new solution just now.
And there, I went into an optometrist shop and asked for contact lens solution.
I only have one percent knowledge about this and that one percent is I know that bottle of thing is called solution.
That’s all.

This guy who served me showed me two brands. Renu and another one I can’t remember.
Then there’s two different type of Renu solution.
One is fresh and another is sensitive.
I know sensitive is for sensitive eyes or something like that but I still asked him, acting like I know nothing at all.
So he told me what I already know.
Sensitive is for sensitive eyes so it wont sting your eyes when you wear your contact lens, that’s what he told me.

And then I asked, …..

‘So you mean that the other bottle will sting my eyes?’

He looked at me, completely stone.

Yah yah, sometimes I am stupid like that.
Asking stupid question which I cant even believe myself.
How can a bottle of solution sting your eyes when it’s job is to actually de-sting it or something like that wtf.
Pfft!

Sorry for wasting few minutes of your life reading how stupid I am.
Hope that bottle of sensitive solution can help ease my #firstworldproblem.
Off to badmintion. Ciao.

MEME: Life as a girlfriend.

Fatty always asked me the same question through the phone.

Fatty: What are you doing?
Me: Online lorh.
Fatty: Online again!?
Me: Ya la. What else to do?

Maybe this is the result I get from going online too much.
A girlfriend meme.

I created a girlfriend meme last night when fatty was busy playing Dota at the other end.
And here’s the outcome.

Tell me I’ve got talent in doing useless things like that, haha.
Jumping into the bandwagon, I uploaded it to 9gag as well.

Hope my girlfriend meme will un-blue your Monday! :D

Broga Hill on a Saturday

Broga Hill, I remembered my last experience there wasn’t quite a pleasant one.
No, there’s nothing wrong with Broga.
Just that I’m not quite interested in hiking itself.
People head over to Broga Hill and hike up to the peak for an awesome sunrise view.
Even without the sunrise, hiking up to the peak is still worth it.

The first time I went hiking at Broga is on the first day of 2011 in hope that I’ll get to reach the top and catch the sunrise.
But I did not make it, so were my friends.
I don’t normally hike, or even do any exercise at all for that matter.
Which makes this journey even harder for me, especially the sloppiness of the hill.

On one Saturday, I went to Broga for the second time but not for hiking this time.
Thank God.
We’re all there to escape our bustling city, to have some quiet time all by ourselves.
Poh Juan’s father own this place called Broga Eco Farm Resort and that’s how we decided to spend our Saturday.

* The view from where the resort is.

* Walkway filled with fruits.

* This is the resort, just three rooms for now.

* And this is the room we all slept in. This room is so huge, fitting in the 9 of us.

* Two of Poh Juan’s manual ATV (all-terrain vehicle).

* Pretty cool ay!? Poh Juan and Victor ready to roll while I enjoyed my Mahjong session in the living room.

* Saw lots of stray dogs walking around before I spot this cute puppy.

* So cute I was playing with it all day and the poor puppy slept on our shoes outside the door when we were all soundly asleep in the room.

* Me trying out the swing.

* Yan who prepared the barbecue.

* And that’s my fatty, forced to take a picture with me.

* Our char siew. Yes, we barbecued char siew this time.

* Guy’s job, nuff said.

* Lambs from previous barbecue session at Poh Juan’s house tasted much better. This was pre-marinated from supermarket.

* Chicken wings. Again, the chicken wing that Poh Juan marinated at Malacca tasted better too. In fact, what he marinated was pretty damn good, malay style it is.

* Girls taking care of the food while the guys getting the karaoke set fix. As for me, doing something real important which is snapping pictures. Hey, don’t look at me like that!!

* My bff’s bf enjoying his hot dog bun.

* Fatty likes the cute puppy too! (:

* Foon was back that day from Hong Kong and I was happy to see her.

* Taking a ride with ATV in between meals.

We ate, we sang, we drank, we gambled, and we chit-chat.
Not everyone appeared in my pictures, I was too lazy after my meal.
It was a simple so called getaway with a bunch of my friends. (:

Broga Eco Farm Resort is not for rent yet but soon it will be.
I’ll probably put more information by then.

Valentine’s : Greatest Love Of All

Here comes the very commercialized Valentines Day but who cares right, we all love to be lovey-dovey no matter you’re single and available or the other way round.
So, Happy (one-day-late) Valentines to every organism on earth. (:

Spending our second Valentine’s together this year, I hope there are many more to come.
Last year’s was great, despite being so many miles apart.
We enjoyed our date together through webcam. I know this sound insane but sometimes I miss webcam moments.
Because we get to sleep ‘together’ and the moment I opened my eyes, I saw him right there on my computer screen. (:

I thank God for making my so called long distance this short up till this very moment.
I know this wont last long, cause he’s gonna go back to Melbourne anyhow and I have to start the long distance all over again but I still feel lucky for having him here all these months.

This year, we skipped the typical Valentine’s dinner that most people are gonna go for.
We both want something different and Valentine’s dinner to us, are somewhat boring.
Instead of spending a few hundred bucks on dinner, we decided to go for a getaway instead.
We booked Sekeping Serendah, somewhere that I wanted to go since ages.
Due to work, we put our Valentine’s getaway on this coming Saturday plus it’s our fourteenth month.
It all make sense.

Since we’ve planned for a getaway, I thought we wont be really celebrating Valentine’s till Saturday.
But Fatty asked me what do I feel like doing on Valentine’s night.
We opted for music. Live music.
Wanted to go to Ampang’s Alexis at first because their music will be coming from a saxophone, piano, and drum. Three of my favorite musical instruments but the careless me mistaken the date.
It’s on Friday, not last night ):

My second choice was No Black Tie and it turns my night into a very memorable one.
Rm60 per person for the entrance fees. If you ask me, it is worth it but at the same time rather expensive too.
Expensive but worth it.

* With my Valentine’s date, my best friend.

* This is Rozz, a very very great singer and performer. At the same time witty and humorous.

Described as a performer who is “bold and a far cry from being generic”, audiences who have seen ROZZ in action have further declared his performances as “fabulous”, “hilarious”, “moving”, “captivating” and “utterly insane”, amongst others. Fascinating and commanding at the same time, one would have to see live performance to truly understand the phenomenon that is ROZZ. Expect the signature dramatic performance, amazing vocals prowess and witty humour for a great night out this Valentine’s with ROZZ.

He sang jazz and some other love songs including a few of Whitney Houston’s.
Of course, we all enjoyed him singing Whitney Houston’s song the most. I was captivated by the performance.
His singing send chills down my spine!

* A friend of Rozz went up and again, their singing are breathtaking. I like the guy’s voice, very sexy and his singing is just as great. Duet songs melt my heart.

* Thank you for the night Fatty!

* Took a picture with Rozz himself. I know this is confusing, so were we at the beginning. We were wondering if Rozz is a female or a male cause his voice sounds like a female but at some point sounds rather like a male too. Rozz is a male.
Go to his blog and you’ll get to hear him sing with his powerful voice. Trust me, it’s really really good!

* Fatty said, ‘You wore this dress on last year’s Valentine’s’. I didn’t even notice it myself and he can remember what I wore a year ago. He amazed me sometimes.

* My night was really memorable and I enjoyed every moment of it.

On Valentine’s eve;
Fatty: I actually wanted to give you a surprise.
Me: Huh?
Fatty: But I don’t have enough time.
Me: Huh? What? *smiling*
Fatty: I actually wanted to get you your cravings. I wanted to buy you Cao-cao lamb and the raw shrimp. I saw it on twitter that you’re craving for it.
Me: Awwwwwwww! *melts*
Fatty: But you said you wanna go to Caffeinees. So…… ):
Me: It’s okayyy!

How nice of him! Although no sight of my cravings but it’s the thought that counts.
This boy really knows how to surprise me, as I’ve said it’s not an easy task.
Love him to bits. (:

Yut Kee, a Hainanese coffee shop older than you and me.

Last year when I was somewhere around KL town , Fatty wanted to take me to a Hainanese coffee shop called Yut Kee but our luck wasn’t with us that day. It was closed.

Not long before I was at KL town again during lunch hour and he said let’s give it a try, secretly hoping that they’re not close.
Luck was with us that day.
He brought me there, it was my first time.

* Kedai Makanan Yut Kee.

* Yut Kee has been operating for more than 80 years, as old as our grandparents and they served western chops to Chinese fried noodles and rice.

* Ice tea and ice coffee to keep the both of us awake. Rm1.50 each.

* Half boiled eggs for the male, Rm2.50.

* Pork chop, one of Yut Kee’s signature dish served with brown sauce, onions, mixed peas and carrots, and also potato wedges – Rm10. Fatty ordered pork chop and I find it rather dry and hard, I’m not a pork chop fan.

* So I decided to order their lamb chop instead which cost Rm13 and boy, I was so very disappointed. I LOVE lamb, for your information but I hate lamb without that ‘funny lamb smell’. We Chinese called it as ‘sou’.
It’s just that lamb smell that makes me love eating lamb and without that smell, I WILL GET MAD!!
So first thing, obviously this plate of lamb chop do not have that ‘funny lamb smell’ which most elder Chinese preferred it to be and secondly it’s a little hard for me to chew.

The sauce they used for their chops are all the same brown sauce, but the brown sauce did not impress me a tiny bit and it certainly did not compliment my my lamb chop at all. I’m sorry. ):

* Moving on, we ordered a plate of oh-so-famous Roti Babi, Rm8.00.

* This is how the fillings look like. If I were to eat this dish first before my lamb chop, I might have enjoyed it more. I like how the bread tasted like after being deep fried.

* The interior of Yut Kee and the owners sitting right in front.

All in all, I walked out feeling rather disappointed because I was expecting more due to the fact that I kind of trust Fatty when it comes to food.
For that price, I could have a better lunch.

Putting it this way, the food is NOT THAT BAD just that there’s nothing much to rave about. Really.
However, you can still go over to have a cup of coffee and order a plate of Roti Babi and try it yourself.
Just something different sometimes.

Brunch at Seremban.

Seremban, the capital state of Negeri Sembilan is just 45 minutes drive away from KL.
‘What do you know about Seremban?’ If you ask me this question a year ago, I’ll answer you I know nothing except for the infamous Siew Pau and Siew Hai (Grilled Crab).
To me, states worth visiting in Malaysia will always be states like Penang, Ipoh, and Melaka.
These states are famous for food and the more popular a place is, the more happening it will be.
Which is why I ignored places like Seremban or Johor because to me these places are boring, with no activities for me.
I was wrong. Very wrong.

There are a lot more to explore and I shouldn’t be this ignorant.
In fact I’m pretty sick of places like Penang already, it’s time for something new.

Back to Seremban, all I know for now is that this place do have some really good food which most Malaysians do not know of.
How I get to know this if you wonder, it’s from Fatty because his hometown is in Seremban itself.

If you remember, I posted one of Seremban’s delicacies which is their Beef Noodles from her famous wet market.
Needless to say, I fell in love with it.
Then there was once where Fatty bought me a packet of noodles specially from Seremban which I have never heard of.
I was eagerly waiting while he reheated the noodles for me and I cant believe how good it tasted!
Ever since that day, I always asked him when do I get to go visit Seremban again for all the irresistable food.

And one fine day, he decided to bring me after much persuading.
We both woke up real early that day because if you’re late, there wont be much left for you.
You wouldn’t want to go back empty stomach, would you?

* On our way to Seremban. Haha! I’ve got no idea what is he trying to do with his palm.

* And then his fist!

We ate three different noodles that day.

* First destination, Kedai Kopi Yung Seng.

* It’s called ‘Ah Yi Lou Shu Fun” or ‘Ah Yi Noodles’ which too I have never heard of.

* This is how it looks like when the plate of ‘Ah Yi Noodles’ arrived at my table. What you see here is Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’ which is totally different from the normal ‘Lou Shu Fun’ we had in KL. Different in shape, look, and texture. ‘Ah Yi Lou Shu Fun’ has really thick gravy, served with shredded eggs, minced meat, and green onions.

* Before you savour this plate of Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’, you need to stir and mix the black sauce along with the thick gravy. This plate of noodle is extremely cheap, only for Rm3.
I don’t quite know how to describe this noodle, really. A very simple noodle that taste good enough to turn your meal into an enjoyable one.

* Second destination, Pasar Besar Seremban or also known as Seremban famous wet market.

* Hioong Kee Mee Hoon Sotong, which is the noodle Fatty bought for me or we called it as ‘Yau Yu Mai Fun’ in Chinese.

* Served with a rather watery gravy, fried vermicelli (fried mee hoon), sotong, pork, and vegetables for only Rm3.50 per bowl. What specialty does this bowl of vermicelli with a few slices of pork and sotong hold? Well, the vermicelli is fried beforehand so it emits a pleasant crisp-burnt smell while the meat is braised in a huge pot to perfect tenderness and sliced to excellent thickness. When everything combines together, it’s a bowl made in heaven.

For my own preference, I’ll always go for thick gravy instead of watery gravy.
So if you’re like me, who cant get enough of this ‘bowl made in heaven’ and also a person who loves thick gravy as much as I do, try this :
Take away a bowl of noodles home and while you reheat it in a pot, add in corn flour to thicken the gravy.
I prefer it being in thick gravy, anytime.

* Third destination, also located inside Pasar Besar Seremban which is Seremban’s infamous beef noodle.

* Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’ served with a thick gravy, peanuts, sesame seeds and mixed beef. Looking at this picture alone makes me salivate. Sometimes it is pretty torturous to do food post. Dayumn! Rm6 if I’m not wrong.
Here’s the post where I’ve talked about it earlier on.

Instead of going to Melaka for food trip, try going to Seremban for a change.
In fact, you can actually do both in a day. You’ll reach Seremban before you reach Melaka anyway.
There are more good food from Seremban that I have yet to try, but someday I will when the boyfriend is free enough.

Time to gather your friends? (:
