Sensation Trip : Bangkok Day 2

My Bangkok Day 1 post was a lot like a hotel review, sorry if it bores you.
But hey, I love to blog on hotels that I’ve stayed and hopefully it contributes a little if you’re to make a choice on where to stay.

Poh Juan, Piao Ching, and the twins stayed at a hotel few minutes from Glow.
We met up and off we went for breakfast.

#1 Braised pork rice that I don’t really fancy. Not that it doesn’t taste nice, just that I don’t fancy braised pork.

We walked quite a distance, searching for Four Face Buddha and halfway through we gave up walking.
Please make full use of the public transportation, there’s BTS station everywhere.

#2 But I love what I saw along the way. Abandoned building with wall graffiti.

#3 New building.

#4 Piao Ching with a Longchamp and Fatty with his Wolfgang tee.

#5 My annoying travel partner.

#6 I had a frightful moment here! I wanted to thank Four Face Buddha so I bought some flowers and what not as my offerings. I was holding a loop of flowers when suddenly I felt a sharp pain on my hand, around my thumb area. I looked at my hand and I saw a green caterpillar sticking it’s head out from the flower and looking at me! WTF! I almost do not know how to react, it was a fucking green caterpillar and it bit me and it hurts and there were some yellow stains on my hand, God knows what is that! I almost thought I’m gonna die or that my hand will turn red and itchy. Washed my hand with some holy water and thank God nothing happened. Not trying to be dramatic but it’s a fucking green caterpillar! PFFT!

#7 Siam Discovery.

#8 Colourful tapes on a mini eased my frightful experience.

#9 So happy when I saw a few pop up container stores around Siam Discovery! Container homes, container stores, container workshops, container whatever, I just love it!

#10 Next mall that we went after Siam Discovery was Siam Paragon, which I named it as Bangkok’s Pavilion. Branded, branded, and branded.

#11 There’s a Lamborghini showroom in the mall, not only selling real Lamborghini but they sell a mini version of it too. I cant quite remember the price but I think they’re selling it for 18000 Baht. Or more.

#12 The only thing that I wanted to do in Siam Paragon was to fix the sim card that I bought, everything else bores me. So Alvin, Fatty and I walked over to Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.

#13 I wished I could have some time to visit the Art and Culture Centre but we only have time for a drink at Gallery cafe.

#14 I love cafes! Love the smell of coffee beans and the look on enthusiastic baristas. :)

#15 Ahh! Cant express how much I love all these, arts and designs and I also cant express how much I hate the fact that I wasn’t at all talented! Pfft!

#16 Teapots, teacups, and everything else that Gallery Cafe is selling.

#17 Cactus to cheer up the ambiance. :)

#18 Reminds me of Beauty and the Beast teacup.

#19 Alvin and his Thai milk tea which is really good! After two sips, I kind of crave for milk tea until today!

#20 Walked over to MBK mall and wait for the remaining to meet us before we start our shopping frenzy!

#21 There’s nothing much inside MBK mall except for the Thai snacks that they sell, which me and Fatty bought quite a lot.
But there are a lot of shops and stalls opposite MBK mall. Cross the pedestrian bridge right infront of MBK mall and your shopping trip starts there. I enjoyed shopping at that area more than Platinum mall. Platinum mall never satisfies me, except for accessories. Nice clothing are always too expensive and the cheap ones are ugly.

It is more worthwhile to shop around MBK area and Chatuchak than to shop at Platinum Mall.
But then again, at the end of the day it’s just preference. :)

I want to refrain myself from posting a long post so I’m gonna break it down.
(Because my mean bff has got something to say about long boring travel post that bores her, hahah.)
OF COURSE, MINE IS NEVER BORING TO HER! :P

Next up : Dinner at Chinatown.

Sensation Trip : Bangkok Day 1

It has been a long time since I travelled with such a large group of friends and it’s even better when the destination is Bangkok.
Travelled together in a large group yet not so together after all.
We didn’t take the same flight nor did we booked the same hotel.
It is just that hard when we’re all adults busy with work.

Some of them went during the day, Fatty and I went during night time and the remaining ones went on the next day.
Our flight was a little too late and we cant manage to take the train back to our hotel which will actually save up a lot, money wise.

The first time I went to Bangkok, me and my friends took the train and it cost us lesser than RM5 if my memory doesn’t fail me.
I am always on the budget side. :)

This time, Fatty and I took a taxi back to our hotel costing us 470 baht.
And was greeted by Alvin straight away, he was our room mate during the trip. :)

#1 I booked Glow hotel which is right above Shibuya19 Mall, located at Pratunam. Really convenient as Pantip Mall and Platinum Mall is just a pedestrian bridge away.

We were all suppose to book Baiyoke hotel but seeing that the room in the pictures were rather old, I decided not to.
I don’t fancy old hotels, if I have a choice. Especially not in Thailand cause it creeps me out.

#2 Glow is a very new hotel, opened since June 2012 and it is located on the 7th floor onwards. Here’s a picture of their lobby where you get ready your documents to check in. A gem at Pratunam area they called it, right smack in the middle of shopping malls.

#3 Sunlight and chairs at the lobby.

#4 Undulating screen walls used for zoning.

#5 Complimentary computer usage for guests.

#6 Swimming pool which we didn’t get to enjoy due to time constraint. It does really look nice and simple.

#7 Our room for the three of us. Beds and pillows were extremely soft.

#8 Clean, bright, and cosy. Flat screen tv and an Ipod dock to keep you entertain.

#9 Wardrobe where you can access it from the room or from inside the bathroom, there are sliding doors on each side.

#10 The view from our room.

#11 Second view.

Besides being really clean and comfortable, service from staff was top notch too.
I bought a Happy Tourist sim pack from the 7-11 nearby and I had a hard time buying internet data the next day.
I asked for help from one of their staff and she was so ready to help me, putting on a smile every second.

I was really glad that I came across Glow because it is so value for money.
For only about Rm200 a night, you get to stay in a hotel with a 5 star service and cleanliness.
Not to forget Glow is super accessible.

#12 After exploring Glow hotel and our room, the three of us went out for a drink while the others were too tired to move an inch. And this is Cowboy Soi.

#13 Spot the sexy lady!

Cowboy Soi, not a place I fancy. It was somewhat dodgy and the pubs weren’t nice but then again, Cowboy Soi might be a heaven for single dudes out there. ;)

My night ends after I grab a Samurai burger from McDonalds so my post will end here as well.
I know, my post is more like a hotel review but I cant post more photos.
Internet is crawling like a snail this moment.

Will update day 2 soon, so stay tune. :)

2009 Bangkok post
reasons why i ♥ bangkok
Bangkok, like a heaven.

A: Have they met her?
B: No but I wish that they had.
A: Huh. Why?
B: So that they’ll know how good you are.

And all I want to do is to have this guy with me forever, if forever ever exist.

…without her knowing.

Today was a little unusual than my other days.
Unusual in a very good way.

I woke up earlier than I was supposed to, to deliver my client’s parcel and to avoid the crowd during noon time.
It was a quick one at the post office and I made the decision to follow my mom to the wet market.
On normal days, she’ll drop me off at work and go to the wet market alone.

When I was little, I used to follow her to this wet market once in a while.
Sometimes it bores me and most of the time I am too much of a sleepyhead to wake up early.
Today, it feels like those times once again. (Not the boring part of course.)

While mom was buying a fish, I shrieked.
She picked a fish that was alive out of the fish tank and the fishmonger killed it right in front of my eyes.
Oh I cant bear the scene and mom laughed at me.

I asked her a lot of questions.
Me: 600 grams of squid means how many can I get?
Mom: A few.
Me: Only a few? A few for about Rm15? (or was it Rm16 or Rm14, I cant remember) So expensive!
Mom: If not! You thought what?

Me: How much is the duck? Do they sell in small pieces?
Mom: No, must buy the whole duck or at least half. Duck is expensive.

Me: Walau! The prawn so expensive geh!
Mom: ‘Eat rice don’t know rice price’.

Me: How much is the lotus root?
Mom: Let the auntie tell you.
Auntie” RM4.50
Me: Rm4.50 for such a small piece? So expensive!
Mom: IF NOT!

Everything is so expensive! Salted fish alone cost my mom Rm24!
Oh poor mommy, on top of that she have to cook for us.
I do feel guilty for not mending our weird relationship sometimes, knowing that she definitely suffer more than I do.
But today was a good one for us, it is our little bonding session like old times.
I shall do this more often, even better that I can gain some knowledge from her on how to choose those vegetables and fishes and what not.

I finished reading ‘Anne Frank’ in two days.
It is a diary of a young girl in her teenage, a diary dated from 14th June 1942 to 1st August 1944.
The venue took place at a building in Amsterdam that has a secret pathway, a ‘Secret Annexe’ they called it for hiding.
Anne, her family, and her family friends hid there for a total of 2 years without stepping out of the building.
No one knew they were there except for her father’s friends who were there to help.
They were Jews and they have to hide themselves from the Germans, from the Nazis in order to keep themselves alive.
It feels weird to find that Anne’s relationship with her mummy is somewhat like my relationship with my mom.

Then again, at the end of the day both Anne and I knew that our moms love us more than anything though the connection sometimes might not be as strong.
Though both Anne and I love our father so much more.

Get hold of the book if you can and read it.
You’ll then discover how bless we are today with no sufferings and I sincerely thank God for that.
Most of all, I thank God that I still have my mom with me in spite of everything.

That alone means more than the world to me, without her knowing.

Of Dome and BookFest.

5 nights at my beloved city, Bangkok and I am now back at home.
I used up a lot of my time to catch up on my sleep and I kind of fell in love with sleeping all over again.
There’re new adventures, new stories waiting to be unfold every single time I fall asleep.
I’m not too sure about you but I dream every single day and I even dream during short naps.
I love dreaming, it’s like watching movies though there’s a downside to it. There’s no rest, sometimes I need to run for my life in my dreams and I woke up feeling even more tired than ever.

It was a good day yesterday starting with a morning call from boyfriend. (:
Snooze a little before I got up and prepared myself.

Breakfast at KLCC’s Dome was lovely, so chilling and relaxing I find myself really enjoying the moment.
Not to mention the food was good and I was reunited with one of my favourite drink, Chai Latte.
Dome’s Chai Latte could be better, the taste is not as strong as what I had in Melbourne. I prefer it stronger.

Our Chai Latte which is slightly better than Wondermilk’s.

Boyfriend’s Egg Hollandaise.

My Spicy Chicken Mushroom Pasta.

I love having my breakfast at Dome but I hope that their service will be improve.
They’re a little slow on whatever they do, time to buck up.

My job was actually to accompany my fat boyfriend while he waited for his sisters who were at the BookFest organized by Popular.
We then decided to check it out since we both love books in a way.
I love reading books, just that the internet always lure me to do anything that is beneficial to me and myself.

What a good decision we’ve made.
Some of the books are amazingly cheap that you just have to buy it!
There’s an entrance fees which cost only Rm2.50 per person or you can purchase a RM10 ticket in exchange for a everyday pass.
Free admission for students below 18 years old and senior citizens above 60 years old.

Date : 18th – 26th August 2012.
Venue : KLCC (Hall 1 to Hall 5 & Grand Ballroom at Level 3)

I bought a total of 6 books, some hardcovers for only RM90.40 while fat boyfriend bought 4 books for about RM55+.
Unbelievably cheap!!
Fat boyfriend bought a thick hardcover architecture book for only RM15.90!! Dirt cheap!
It is so cheap to the extend where I feel like laughing. Haha!
If you’re like me who aren’t quite willing to spend a fortune on books, this is the time for you to really buy as many books as you wish.

And here’s what I bought :)

I figured it’s time for me to improve myself.

I’ve been dying to read ‘Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus’ for the longest time but as I said I am not willing to spend on books. I assume it’s a great book for us females to understand them males more and vice versa. (I’ll force the fat to read this after I’m done reading it lol.)
As for ‘What The Dog Saw’, I’ve read the first few pages from my phone where I downloaded the trial E-book and it was a very good read. I was so hooked, a very interesting book.

Biography and memoirs! I love non-fiction books! I rarely go for fictions because to me they are all fake.
I am so broke after Bangkok or else I’ll buy more of these books. Mahatma Gandhi, Mao Zedong, Hitler, and so much more!

Also I hadn’t got the chance to buy crime books. :(
I love reading crime books, real crime. Especially those unsolved crimes, serial killers on the loose.

Shopping for books at BookFest can be as fun as shopping for clothes at Bangkok. The prices gave me the same feeling, haha.

You have four more days before BookFest ends, trust me it is gonna be worth it.
They sell all kind of books : Finance, management, business, interior design, branding, graphic designs, cookbooks, craft books, self enrichment books, memoirs, biographies, fictions, comics, …just about everything.
Some books were originally priced at RM150+ and now selling for only RM15.90. Some books go as low as RM8.90!

I am almost half way through ‘Anne Frank’ and I have this urge to go back to BookFest one more time to grab more books.
But I doubt if boyfriend agrees on my thought.

Oh my August…

There’s too much that is trapped in within me right this moment.
This August doesn’t seem like a good month to me but then again it wouldn’t be too bad knowing that I am going for a holiday real soon.
At least that is how I console myself.

There will always, always be ups and downs in life. Without all the downs that we experienced and bound to experience, we wouldn’t be able to learn anything.
My EQ just leveled up, again and all I do is just to laugh it off like how I laugh at retards.

I have this piece of wall that cheers me up whenever I’m down and I’ll always be fine at the end of the day no matter what.
Looking at these instax films, reminiscing the memories brings me a calm feeling.

1. I will always miss those good old times.
2. Life still goes on.
3. I’m not UPSET just that there’s a little too many changes this August. I need time to cope.
4. Time to think happy thoughts : BANGKOK!

People change. Surroundings change. Everything in life will change. But memories don’t. :)
