Seremban, the capital state of Negeri Sembilan is just 45 minutes drive away from KL.
‘What do you know about Seremban?’ If you ask me this question a year ago, I’ll answer you I know nothing except for the infamous Siew Pau and Siew Hai (Grilled Crab).
To me, states worth visiting in Malaysia will always be states like Penang, Ipoh, and Melaka.
These states are famous for food and the more popular a place is, the more happening it will be.
Which is why I ignored places like Seremban or Johor because to me these places are boring, with no activities for me.
I was wrong. Very wrong.

There are a lot more to explore and I shouldn’t be this ignorant.
In fact I’m pretty sick of places like Penang already, it’s time for something new.

Back to Seremban, all I know for now is that this place do have some really good food which most Malaysians do not know of.
How I get to know this if you wonder, it’s from Fatty because his hometown is in Seremban itself.

If you remember, I posted one of Seremban’s delicacies which is their Beef Noodles from her famous wet market.
Needless to say, I fell in love with it.
Then there was once where Fatty bought me a packet of noodles specially from Seremban which I have never heard of.
I was eagerly waiting while he reheated the noodles for me and I cant believe how good it tasted!
Ever since that day, I always asked him when do I get to go visit Seremban again for all the irresistable food.

And one fine day, he decided to bring me after much persuading.
We both woke up real early that day because if you’re late, there wont be much left for you.
You wouldn’t want to go back empty stomach, would you?

* On our way to Seremban. Haha! I’ve got no idea what is he trying to do with his palm.

* And then his fist!

We ate three different noodles that day.

* First destination, Kedai Kopi Yung Seng.

* It’s called ‘Ah Yi Lou Shu Fun” or ‘Ah Yi Noodles’ which too I have never heard of.

* This is how it looks like when the plate of ‘Ah Yi Noodles’ arrived at my table. What you see here is Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’ which is totally different from the normal ‘Lou Shu Fun’ we had in KL. Different in shape, look, and texture. ‘Ah Yi Lou Shu Fun’ has really thick gravy, served with shredded eggs, minced meat, and green onions.

* Before you savour this plate of Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’, you need to stir and mix the black sauce along with the thick gravy. This plate of noodle is extremely cheap, only for Rm3.
I don’t quite know how to describe this noodle, really. A very simple noodle that taste good enough to turn your meal into an enjoyable one.

* Second destination, Pasar Besar Seremban or also known as Seremban famous wet market.

* Hioong Kee Mee Hoon Sotong, which is the noodle Fatty bought for me or we called it as ‘Yau Yu Mai Fun’ in Chinese.

* Served with a rather watery gravy, fried vermicelli (fried mee hoon), sotong, pork, and vegetables for only Rm3.50 per bowl. What specialty does this bowl of vermicelli with a few slices of pork and sotong hold? Well, the vermicelli is fried beforehand so it emits a pleasant crisp-burnt smell while the meat is braised in a huge pot to perfect tenderness and sliced to excellent thickness. When everything combines together, it’s a bowl made in heaven.

For my own preference, I’ll always go for thick gravy instead of watery gravy.
So if you’re like me, who cant get enough of this ‘bowl made in heaven’ and also a person who loves thick gravy as much as I do, try this :
Take away a bowl of noodles home and while you reheat it in a pot, add in corn flour to thicken the gravy.
I prefer it being in thick gravy, anytime.

* Third destination, also located inside Pasar Besar Seremban which is Seremban’s infamous beef noodle.

* Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’ served with a thick gravy, peanuts, sesame seeds and mixed beef. Looking at this picture alone makes me salivate. Sometimes it is pretty torturous to do food post. Dayumn! Rm6 if I’m not wrong.
Here’s the post where I’ve talked about it earlier on.

Instead of going to Melaka for food trip, try going to Seremban for a change.
In fact, you can actually do both in a day. You’ll reach Seremban before you reach Melaka anyway.
There are more good food from Seremban that I have yet to try, but someday I will when the boyfriend is free enough.

Time to gather your friends? (:

Can’t believe this year is the dragon year once again.
I’ve been eagerly waiting for the next dragon year to arrive after the age of 12 until I did a little calculation and realise I’ll be 24.
Not so eager after all.

I always thought to myself, “ohh when dragon year arrives again I’ll be a 24 adult, living like an adult”.
Little did I know ‘living like an adult’ actually means clubbing till the dawn breaks, hahahah.
I pictured myself as an working adult, full time looking like an office lady but what I pictured was far off.
Now how could I even picture myself in such a way, I cant explain.

It’s the last day of the rabbit year today and I welcome dragon year with my open arms.
I had my reunion lunch this afternoon at Oriental Viva with my siblings, a few of my relatives and my Ben joined in too.
Oriental Viva is under The Oriental Group of Restaurant which is the same group as Noble House and how glad my mom made the right choice, the food is indeed good.
Last year, we had our reunion lunch at home and the boyfriend still complains till this very day on how I’m such a careless girlfriend because I don’t bother getting him any dishes when he’s still shy.
Not too use to it at that point of time haha.

Did my first Lou Sang at Mei Keng Fatt the other day with a couple of friends and gosh, that dinner is one helluva dinner.

* Friends reunion dinner I called it, just to syok sendiri. Picture turns out blur because I’m in such a hurry to capture it one second before they start their ‘yuet lou yuet sang’.

* Every year I do this full with hope, hoping that what I wish for will come true, lol.

* Just half of our dinner that night. It’s a feast for the 7 of us.

* Of course, you go to Mei Keng Fatt for their crabs. We ordered two different dish of Sri Lanka crab and for one crab it cost about Rm70++. The above is one of the two crabs.

* The Sri Lanka crab is really big, the claw itself is almost as big as Daniel’s palm.

I enjoyed the dinner and came home with a a bulging tummy.
No. Not gonna wish you guys Happy Chinese new year yet, maybe tomorrow.
But hope you guys had an enjoyable reunion dinner with your loved ones. (:

I was expecting a blog post from myself last week but little did I know my ‘timetable’ was be jam packed.
Tuesday and Wednesday was spent watching ‘Bottled Passion’, a TVB drama.
The habit of watching drama all day, from episode to episode is no longer in me.
Or I should say, not much drama interest me nowadays.

Saw my mom and brother watching ‘Bottled Passion’ and it looks so interesting I have to get it from my brother.
It was real good I finished it in 3 days, mainly because it’s a love story with a twist.
But I hate the ending so it kind of made me feel like I wasted my time watching it.
TVB should know by now that ‘unhappy ending’ will not make us, the audience happy.

After the drama, the rest of my days were spent outside of home hanging out with friends from Melbourne cause most of them are at KL for now. (:
Speaking of Melbourne, here is the post as promised.

Food from Melbourne’s cafe.
You see, it’s been pretty long (very damn long in fact) since I came home from Melbourne so I guess I probably cant describe how the food taste like anymore except that it tasted good wtf.
But I’ll try my best to dig out whatever I can remember from my brain.

First off, Birdman Eating.
Yes, what a name I thought to myself when Fatty first told me about it.
Birdman Eating : Odd name, simple, and brilliantly done (food and ambiance).

I do not do any research about restaurant or cafes during my stay in Melbourne (unlike here in KL) because obviously, it’s the boyf’s job while I visit him.
Apparently Birdman Eating is very famous for their baked eggs as I’ve mentioned in my previous post.

* The first thing that caught my eye when I stepped into Birdman Eating is their hanging carrots in plastic bags. What a decoration. The first one is a bird man like figure with colourful feathers, second is the hanging plastic-bag-carrots and the third are flowers in vases which they changed it on the spot when we’re there.
Very creatively done.

* One of the best Chai Latte I’ve ever tried in Melbourne which came in a rather unique red tin. Very aromatic and I really like it that way. Damn, I seriously miss drinking Chai Latte. $5.50.

* I guess we ordered baked eggs of the day which you can made your decision based on what they have on their blackboard. Just imagine, on a chilly early noon you’re served with pipping hot baked eggs with runny yolks on a metal skillet and with a sliced of buttered toast. Your day will be a wonderful one after eating the baked eggs, hah. $14.

* Soup of the day which I cant remember much.

* A picture while we were walking towards the tram station. I will definitely be back for more baked eggs, some time this year. (:

So if you happened to be in Melbourne, do drop by on a Sunday morning for some perfectly bake baked eggs.
This will not disappoint you, I swear.
It’s located at Fitzroy and here’s the address.

Birdman Eating
238 Gertrude Street
Fitzroy, VIC 3065

Mon-Fri 7am–10:30pm
Sat-Sun 8am–10:30pm

Next on is The Hardware Société.
Did not bother much on why Birdman Eating is called Birdman Eating but how did The Hardware Société’s name came by is from the lane itself, located at Hardware street.
So next time if you cant figure what name to give your cafe, you can try ‘Hang Tuah Société’ if your cafe is at Jalan Hang Tuah.
Damn, Malaysia’s street name never sound right.

* Another perfect place for a warm hearty breakfast. I seriously love eating breakfast in Melbourne.

* If you pay attention enough, most of the newly opened cafes in KL look like the above picture. Probably inspired by cafes from the west.
The Hardware Société’s interior actually looked much better than the picture above. I was too busy catching up with my friend and too busy focusing on food. Cant be bothered with pictures that very moment. But do google for it if you’re interested and you’ll be amaze.

Expect to see a line of people waiting for tables when you’re there, probably a very normal scene for The Hardware Société.

Do forgive me because I am not able to name a single dish here, my brain failed me.
So this time round, I’ll just say I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

* Chai Latte in a pot wrapped by a cute and colourful knit. Told you I love Chai Latte, just simply irresistible.

* My friends were not quite used to the taste and the combination of ingredients the cafe offered.

* Just take a look at the peas/beans!

* This is the best dish but I cant remember what it is.

* I was really happy when I get to meet Foon in Melbourne and that’s where we enjoyed our breakfast together.

The Hardware Société is located in CBD, in the heart of Melbourne city.

The Hardware Société
120 Hardware Street
Melbourne VIC 3000

Opening hours:
Mon – Fri 7.30am – 3pm
Sat – 8.30am – 2pm

Now you see the difference between Malaysia’s cafe and Melbourne’s?
Or you still don’t?
Sometimes it just feels like these Melburnians put so much heart and effort in their food and drinks.
Damn, Melburnians can really cook!
Worth every penny you pay!

The Red Beanbag is a modern contemporary Australian-inspired café, located in a bright and beautiful corner overlooking the Piazza at Publika, Solaris Dutamas at the front, and with a spectacular view of the Royal Palace at the back. With so much to catch your attention, you could just sit and relax here all day with a Cuppa or an Iced Chocolate prepared by our passionate baristas

It is said that the cafe is run by four young Malaysians who received their educations in Australia wanting to bring in Australia cafe culture into our country.
For those who had been to Aussie, do make a guess on what’s their wifi password. Answer to be reveal at the end of the post.

* Red Beanbag’s simple menu.

* Boyf’s hot latte.

* And my iced latte.

* Oh-la-di Oh-la-da – Rm10
Soda with fresh cucumber juice & a touch of mint. A very refreshing thirst quencher. For maximum effect, consume it during a very hot day.

* Soup for the soul. Thick creamy soup of the day served with toasted bread. Their price for soup varies daily, depending on the soup itself and the soup for that day is onion soup. I was actually hoping for some pumpkin or asparagus soup. Onion soup is obviously NOT thick and creamy.

* RBB’s Specialty Baked Eggs – Rm17.90.
Baked eggs, oh how I miss. This is the dish that initially attracted me to The Red Beanbag and also the dish that reminds me of Melbourne.
Eggs cracked into a baking dish of lamb bratwurst, sundried tomatoes, potatoes, and cheese, baked to perfection and served with crusty bread.
This dish is fine, tasted good enough for you to take another bite.
However, good enough does not equals to great and sad to say that the baked eggs is not up to my expectation. It could be that my expectation is a tad too high after I’ve tried BirdMan Eating’s signature baked eggs in Melbourne. Their baked eggs are just…….
Maybe I shall do a post about it up next.
Don’t get me wrong, this dish is not bad. It’s just not as good.

* Beef me up Scotty – Rm19.90
Can be improve and not too worth the price. The taste of this is as normal as what I just wrote.

* Tenderly grilled beef fillet on toasted Ciabatta served with caramelized onions, rocket, and olive oil.
Nothing fancy.

* A rather relaxing cafe to catch up with some friends.

I guess I have been expecting too much lately whenever fatty and I decided to try something new.
And what I’ve tried so far did not surprise me, except for one which I will not reveal for the moment.
All these breakfast with poached eggs, baked eggs, hearty soups, sandwiches and just about anything you can name disappoint me somehow.
Not just Red Beanbag in particular, but most of the cafes I went to.
Red Beanbag’s food is indeed better than a lot of cafes out there but there are still so much room for improvement.
There’s two things you can come here for. Their coffee and their environment, especially on a Sunday noon.
That’ll be a perfect lazy Sunday.

Total bill for our lunch is about Rm70++.
Let’s just hope that Red Beanbag can improve in the near future and surprise me.

Oh! And the wifi password is Hookturn.
Some weird turn that’s available in Melbourne but not in Malaysia.
I cant explain further cause I’m a dummy in all these ……what do I called it?

When it comes to food, the boyf tends to act like a ‘eating-professor’ (hence his size HAHA).
Special dates like birthday, christmas, and anniversary is truly a good excuse for us to dine a little better than normal days.
We don’t normally pick our restaurants randomly when it comes to dates worth celebrating.
There’s too many restaurants laying around in KL and I would prefer not bumming into a few bad ones.
We will do some research here and there, have a little discussion before we’re good to go.

Most of the time in the middle of our research, we’ll go ‘OH WOW! this looks damn good’ and ‘WAH SEE! Look at that beef!’.
Food blog is the root of all fats, in our case.
We just really cant say no to food. No <s>food</s> good food no life.

So this time for our anniversary, we decided to go for lunch instead of dinner for a change.
We picked Il Lido, located at Jalan Mayang which served classic Italian cuisine.
We made a reservation but this action is not needed because it almost seems like we booked the entire restaurant.
Empty during lunch.

* He’s the one who decided to have our lunch at Il Lido.

* I was a tad bit reluctant at first because I heard it’s pretty pricey until the boyf told me they do have lunch set menu.

* Il Lido – “The ultra-luxe interior, combined with the warm, inviting atmosphere, allows diners to ease easily into the experience.”

* Complimentary bread which I personally did not very fancy. Reason being that the taste of garlic in the bread is a tad bit on the heavy side. The taste of garlic lingers too long in my mouth and somehow affect the taste of my starter. There’s a mini fight inside my mouth when I took a bite of my starter.

* Amuse Bouche – which stands for ‘mouth amuser’ if were to direct translate from French. It is a little bite of food to amuse the mouth and different form appetizer, you wont be able to order it from menu. Instead it is selected by the chef accordingly. And the above is Tuna Carpaccio.

* Beef Carpaccio with Rucola, Parmigiano Cheese and Truffle – Rm39. Other than scallops and foie gras, the boyf likes carpaccio too and this is pretty good I must say. Wrapped the beef, rucola, cheese and truffle, stuffed it into our mouth and savour it.

I ordered Festive Season Lunch Menu that costs Rm88.
There’s two starters and three main dish for me to choose from.

* I choose Pan Roasted Scallops with Cannelini Beans, Carrot Jus and Bottarga as my starter knowing that the love likes scallop so much. There’s really nothing much for me to rave about this dish, sadly.

* And Pan Roasted Atlantic Cod with Smoked Caviar Sauce and Whipped Potato as my main course, also knowing that the love likes caviar. Did not like this either, especially the whipped potato because they whipped it with some almond and I HATE ALMOND A LOT BECAUSE IT SMELLS LIKE COCKROACH!

Boyf likes all sorts of expensive food! And I like all sorts of nasty food like cockles and pork intestine LOL.

* My dessert, Chestnut and Amaretto Parfait with Warm White Chocolate which I really dislike because I hate nuts and chocolate. What a combination!

I guess I just really dislike my set, haha. But it’s just preference and somehow the ingredients they used are foods that I dislike eating. ):

The boyf went for Degustation Menu instead, which costs Rm198.
He cant resist degustation menu, that’s for sure.

* Crab Salad with Watermelon and Tomato Elisir. This is a cold dish, it’s fresh and it tasted damn good, one of my favourite of the day.

* Pan Fried Goose Liver with Duck Terrine and Wild Berries Sauce. This is also my favourite. Their pan fried goose liver is one of the best goose liver I’ve tried by far. Slightly crispy on the outside and it melts in your mouth after the first bite. So flavorful!

* Homemade Spaghetti with Lobster and Spicy Tomato Sauce. Don’t find this interesting except that the spaghetti they use had a really different texture and I quite like it.

* Prime Beef Tenderloin with Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce and Truffle Potatoes. Boyf said hope it’s as good as Nathalie’s and when he took a bite he said IT IS really as good as Nathalie’s and when I took a bite I said no. Not as tender, I swear but I quite like the potato though.

* Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. I ate the ice cream while he ate the chocolate cake. In fact he dislike chocolate just like I do but he said it’s really good. Still I’m not interested to give it a try.

I figured that I prefer French cuisine more than Italian cuisine when it comes to fine dine.
I don’t know how to explain this but I just find french cuisine more ‘in-depth’ when it comes to taste or maybe it’s the restaurant I don’t know.
I’d still prefer Nathalie Gourmet anytime and also not to forget Bistro à Table.

But still I did enjoy my lunch a lot, especially with him by my side. (:
Our bill came up to about Rm400.

The bistro food pays homage to modern French comfort food, while adopting local elements – we like to call it “adaptive French cuisine”.

The boyfriend had been wanting to try out Bistro à Table since some time back and he finally did when he brought me there on my birthday.
French cuisine it is, we both share a common love.
And before that, sorry for the low quality picture because I did not use flash in this dimly lit restaurant.

* Bistro à Table

* Decorated with light bulbs and plants.

* A very simple and casual interior they have.

* I would prefer siting at the table behind of me because there’s curtain’s surrounding that table and it just feels nicer somehow.

* My fatty (:

* Complimentary bread.

* This prawn is so good, no joke! The slightly burnt prawn when dip in the avocado sauce became a match made in heaven.

* Baked onion with shaved black autumn truffles, organic egg and melted Gruyere. The chef shaved the black truffles right in front of us and I just somehow feel like it’s more worth the money haha. This dish requires lots of skills I guess, I don’t know how they stuff the egg inside the onion.

* Cannelloni of Seared Scallops & School Prawns in Lobster Bisque & Indonesian Black Nut Tapenade. This fusion dish is very well executed, brings out a little Thai flavour while both the scallops and prawns are mad fresh.

* Truffled Mash Potatoes, eat this and you’ll be full.

* 8 hour slow-cooked traditional Roast Lamb, not the most creative dish. Maybe we should have order another dish instead.

I had a great birthday dinner and I really enjoyed the food, thanks to the boyfriend. (:
It seems like he prefer Bistro à Table more than Nathalie’s but both to me are equally good.
Really appreciate French cuisine!

Total bill came up to about Rm250.

Oh dear Nathalie, such fate I have with you.
After so many attempts, finally I get to enjoy such a scrumptious lunch.
Been wanting to try this out since the first time I heard of Nathalie’s Gourmet through a friend of mine.
He told me it’s French cuisine, well nuff said. And of course, not to forget their famous Macarons and the cooking classes they offered which I am very interested at.

So, if you ask why so many attempts my answer will probably be that there might be someone jinxing it.
Planned to have my last year’s birthday dinner but my friend just couldn’t make it.
Planned to pay Nathalie Gourmet a visit during the beginning of the year with Ben but yet couldn’t make it as well.
This time when he’s back, we made an arrangement for dinner only to find out that they’re only open till 6 o’clock.
Then we planned for lunch and we couldn’t make it on time every single time, either that he needs to help his mom to run some errands or that there’s something else going on.
One fine day when we both can make it, they said they’re opened for dinner that day and at 3 o’clock, they’re only left with desserts.
Mygoodnessake! All the way to Solaris Dutamas and you tell me you’re only left with desserts!?

Well fine. I told myself I’ll go back again someday no matter what.
Wednesday morning, I called and woke the boyfriend up for our lunch to make sure he wont be late and I wont miss my Nathalie Gourmet.
But bad luck is with me, mom dropped her set of keys and she needs to use mine.
I decided to follow her out and wait outside for Ben but mom said, ‘oh, nevermind I’ve got a set of new lock just use this one will do’.
Okay, since she said so. Yet I was about to follow her out the door and she asked me why do I still need to follow her out since I’ve got the key.
Oh ya right, so I stayed at home and wait for Ben.
Guess what! When he reached, I couldn’t find a single way to open the pad lock, the damn key doesn’t work. Lock smith to my rescue which cost a good damn hundred fifty bucks.
Cut the nonsense, I almost miss the chance to dine in Natalie Gourmet AGAIN!

Thank god I make it through this time despite all the crap that is thrown to me that morning.

* Not so beautiful morning but a beautiful afternoon (:

* Nathalie Gourmet Studio.

* The interior. Not too fond of their tables and chairs, not exactly a very comfortable seat.

* The bread and butter itself already taste so good.

* Norwegian Poached Egg, Chive Emulsion for Rm28. The salmon together with poached egg is marvelous.

* Pan fried scallops, Fresh ginger sauce, and Melted leeks for Rm31. As usual if there’s scallops on the menu, boyfriend will order it. That sauce is one helluva sauce, I don’t even know what is the right word to describe it.

* Beef tenderloin, Potato Mille-feuille, Greens and Revised Bernaise Sauce for Rm50. Medium well for the beef and it is perfect. So perfect that this is one of the best as long as I can remember.

Only three dishes for us, an addition of dessert would be perfect but we skipped it since the dessert menu somehow did not attract us.

* However, the colours from Macarons did attract me. So much more colourful in real life (:

* Bought five Macarons for Ben’s mom and sisters and they said it taste good. Rm20.75 for a box of five (:

Absolutely love the food there and I really want to join the cooking class so badly for I know that it will not disappoint me.
Definitely will return to enjoy delicious meal again and also try out their new branch called Cuisine Gourmet by Natalie at KL.

“CUMULUS INC. eating house and bar opened in 2008 in Melbourne’s famous art and fashion precinct, Flinders Lane.”
So from what I’ve found out Cumulus Inc is run by chef Andrew McConnell and architect partner Pascale Gomes-McNabb, creating a unique eating experience by serving excellent food and of course, a great interior design to go along with the food.

And in a few years time you’ll see bloggers blogging about this ‘XXX restaurant’ run by chef Peggy Chow and architect partner Ben Tay, creating an awesome pawsome eating experience.
What!? Still not too old for me to dream right, pfft! Dream has no boundaries okay. okay. okay!?

Back to Cumulus Inc, by far this is one of my favorite restaurant in Melbourne.
Food taste absolutely delicious and it just doesn’t taste delicious, as said it does taste unique in a way.
Something different. Nothing complicated, the taste is simple yet different.
I don’t even know how to put it into words, I just love it.

* Cumulus Inc , everything is great. I guess I must have been busy eating hence there isn’t any pictures of the interior but do visit their website if you’re interested. (:

* The bread itself looks so good and soft.

* Two different types of oyster but I cant remember what is what now. Each cost around $4.

* Soft shell mud crab, this taste absolutely delicious! $20

* Scallops, boyf’s favorite. As long as there’s scallop on the menu, he’ll order it. Cant seem to get the price from their website.

* I cannot remember what fish is this, too long ago ):

* The lady who served us asked if we’d like to have salad as well, we both don’t feel like it but ordered anyway. I don’t know why. When our salad came I told the boyf we shouldn’t have ordered this but I was very wrong. This is no ordinary salad, the sauce taste so different and good. I’m actually not a salad person and they can make salad taste this good.

* Selection of Petit Fours $8, dessert was a little disappointing though but I believe they do have better desserts.

Cumulus Inc do serve breakfast too, have yet to try but I’m anticipating.
One more thing I like about Cumulus Inc is that they have open kitchen and I can sit right at the bar seeing all those young handsome chefs cooking right in front of me.
Really really like seeing chef preparing my food in front of me.

I’d definitely go back if I have the chance to step foot in Melbourne again.
Oh and the bill came up to about $100+, pretty affordable if we count dollar to dollar.
I’m pretty sure I cant get food with such quality with Rm100+ here in Malaysia.

But then again, I hope I’m wrong.
Gonna try out this restaurant that I’ve been dying to try since last year.
I hope it wont fail me since I’ve read plenty of good reviews on the web.
Cant wait (;

As promised, a blog post in a day with pictures (:
A post that was supposed to come a month earlier. That shows how lazy I am, maybe I can blame it on the winter here. You know, winter just makes people lazy.

It was his birthday last <s>week</s> (pending post) month and we had a japanese birthday dinner because we cant help craving for japanese food after watching that hongkong sushi drama.
For the entire week I crave for sushi and it didn’t help, I miss sushi zanmai even more.
We went to this Japanese restaurant in Crown called Nobu, a restaurant opened by a celebrated Japanese chef, Nobu Matsuhisa and Robert De Niro himself.

* Sushi bar, I just love sitting there taking a quick look at these sushi masters doing their thing in between my meal. (:

* Tuna Tataki with Tozasu $22

* New Style Salmon Sashimi $18.5

* Sea Urchin $10, Japanese Chu-Toro $18 if I’m not wrong , and King Fish $5.

* Black Cod with Miso $45.5 (boyf’s favourite)

* Lobster with Wasabi Pepper Sauce $60

* Kurobuta Pork Belly with Karashi Su Miso and Nashi pear $37

Dinner was great, especially the Tuna Tataki and Salmon sashimi. *orgasmic*
But we both agreed that we should have ordered something else instead of lobster and pork belly because there really isn’t much for us to rave about on both the dishes.
Maybe we should just stick with seafood next time but nonetheless I love the dinner.
The bill came up to about $250 and if you ask me if it’s worth the price, I cant say that it’s not because indeed the food is good.
But I’ll never like the idea that it is actually that expensive.
Since it’s the boy’s birthday, I guess it’s okaaaaayyyyyyyyy. (:

We came home after dinner and I surprised him with a cake and the present I bought him all the way from Malaysia. Which is a piece of art. Yes you heard me right, a piece of art.

* Birthday boy with the lousy birthday cake I bake when he went to class that afternoon.

* Tadaaaa!! Cute isn’t?? ngehehe, really look quite like the both of us

And of course, camwhore a little

As for his birthday party surprise, well………..
Long before his birthday I asked myself, what kind of surprise should I give him.
If you didn’t know, I love giving people surprises. It makes me happy (:
Anyway, two weeks ago my friend suggested to have a barbecue session at our place.
But I suggested the following week instead with the excuse that we are short of cash but in fact I secretly told them that it’s Ben’s birthday next week. (:
Everyone agreed and keep it as a secret from the birthday boy,and he still thought that it’s because we’re short of cash.

BUT! BUT! BUT!
This blur friend of mine, accidentally spill it out when we’re having our coffee.
my blur friend: next saturday barbecue right? for your birthday..
me: stare at him intensely.
my blur friend: no meh? i thought it’s for your birthday
me: staring at him even more intense my eyeballs almost fall off with the thinking that i’m gonna kill him anytime soon.
ben: huh. for my birthday meh. *looks at me*
me: (FML!!!)
my blur friend: ooooo……………ooooooo………..sorry.
me: kill me please.

i’m not sure if i wanted to kill him or myself. like O-M-G!!!
Pfft but nehmind I planned for a back up surprise right away. I secretly changed it to friday without the birthday boy noticing.
Informed everyone secretly, and even asked my blur friend to ask him out on friday itself so that i can stay home alone and prepare everything.
It was quite a mess due to the time constraint.

I prepared all the marinates the day before.
Beef, lamb, chicken, prawn, and squid. Typing it all out now here reminds me how painstakingly I prepared all of these.
And the most horrible of all, is no doubt the friggin squid.

* I was cutting the squid into half and half way through I saw something looking back at me. I shriek so loud and throw the eerie squid back into the sink. The squid ate the fish and it’s still inside WTF!!!! I know it’s just a fish but it really is uber disgusting.

Enough of the squid. On the day itself as I planned, boyf went out without me and I stayed home preparing for the food all day. My kitchen looks exactly like a war zone that day.

* let’s barbecueeeee.

* cooked creamy tomato spaghetti, baked mushroom, caesar salad, …..

* …… and baked egg, potato and cherry tomato.

* Man, I love the candles here in Melbourne I wanna buy them all home!! So special!!

Fat Ben, I’m such a good girlfriend right? *flips hair*
ngeheheheheheheh

Gosh, I feel so lazy to blog!!
But my boyf forced me to, which I don’t know.

Ben: Faster go blog.
Me: Tomorrow lah, I’m very lazy.
Ben: Blog now lah. You’re a professional blogger, later no more follower.
Me: -________-”’

Since when am I a professional blogger whatthehell!
I’m a professional housewife LOL!
I always need some oomph to blog, I cant just blog like that.

Anyway, we had lunch at this really nice cafe with a cute name called Giraffe Cafe.
And the food taste pretty good too.

* feels like home, a cosy home which is really different from FullHouse cafe kind of home. Those are boring.

* I like how they put a tree trunk inside the cafe, from floor to ceiling. I would love to have a huge ass tree trunk in my house, not the house I’m staying of course. Some dodgy looking house.

* Their coffee taste awesome with ice-cream in it. Normally I drink hot coffee here but this ice coffee taste a little like what I drink back in Malaysia. Of course, not the crappy kind of coffee.

* Chicken Risotto. Actually this is the first risotto in my life, never cross my mind to try one out before. Remember the first time I saw a plate of risotto was when Aaron ordered it and I was thinking, why does his meal looks so much like a vomit wtf. I don’t know why risotto do not look appealing to me, but boy it taste heavenly.

* A-nothing-to-rave-about-bread-pudding.

* Candid.

I find out that cafes here in Melbourne, even if you randomly picked one they wont really fail you.
Unlike the ones in KL, I really dare not randomly walk into a cafe.
Man, I’ve tried some and the food just taste so bad. Service is bad, food is bad, everything is bad.
There aren’t much good cafes in KL, or more like in Cheras.

This Giraffe Cafe, they do not really have a kitchen.
It’s just a small open kitchen right in front of the entrance door.
And there’s just two lady working that day, so they have to basically do everything from cleaning up to ordering to cooking.
It kind of makes me feel, hey maybe it’s not THAT hard.
But of course, there aren’t much choices to pick from the menu.

I wanna have a cafe of my own too, can I? *puppy eyes*
