It’s Chap Goh Meh today for Chinese which means it is the last day of our Chinese New Year, also considered as Chinese Valentines Day whereby ladies will throw mandarin oranges into lake, pond, or rivers and guys will pick it up. The belief is that the guy who picked up the ladies’ oranges will be their future match.

Also, in a week time Valentines Day will arrive filling the air with love.
As we always said it, everyday is or can be Valentines Day for those in love.
Yes, I am a typical girl who cant say no to anything romantic.

My post title says it all.

For a person like me who’ll take up two years to finish one make up product, it is inevitable that some of my products will eventually hardened before I even finish half of it.
And by some, I actually mean gel eyeliners and mascaras itself.

From the first day I put on make up till this date, I’ve experimented 3 different types of eyeliners which are the usual; pencil, liquid, and gel.
And of course for those who have tried using gel eyeliners know how fantastic those tiny pots can be.
Easy to apply with a brush and most importantly, it wont smudge easily.
In fact, it wont quite smudge even if you have it on your eyelids and opt for a swim.

For everything, there’s always a good and a bad side to it.
The downside of using a gel eyeliner is that it will hardened as time goes by, especially if you leave the lid on often.
I dislike how difficult it is to apply on my eyelid when the gel eyeliner hardened. ):
So next time when you buy a new pot of gel eyeliner, remember to turn your opened pot of gel eyeliner upside down while you apply your eyeliner so that it wont get hardened so quickly.

So being the stingy girl I am, I tried to find a way to revive my very dry gel eyeliner.
AND I FOUND IT!! (:
So here I am sharing it with you girls who like gel eyeliners as much as I do or guys if so happen you have a fetish for gel eyeliner.

What you’ll need:

1) A gel eyeliner brush.
2) A toothpick.
3) Eye Mo.
4) And your hardened gel eyeliner that can go right into the bin.

Step 1

Get ready all the needed items above. Opened up your pot of hardened gel eyeliner and smile at it because in a few minutes it will be all soft again like a brand new!
Add one drop of Eye Mo into it.
If you look closely at the picture, the drop of Eye Mo do not sink and blend into the hardened gel eyeliner itself.
Note: Just add one drop will do and if your gel eyeliner is still hard, add another drop. Do not add two or three drops at a time, it might be a little too much for your remaining hardened gel eyeliner.

Step 2

Use the toothpick that you’ve readied to stir and blend your hardened gel eyeliner together with the Eye Mo . Just mix it up all together and make it balance.
Note: It might get a little messy, so do it slowly.

Step 3

This is where the brush comes in. Once you’re done mixing and blending your hardened gel eyeliner with the Eye Mo, you use your brush and gently pat all the mess down into the pot. Just to ‘de-messy-ized’ it.
I used flash for this because it’s really hard for me to capture the soft texture and show it to you girls/guys. Can you tell my pot of Maybelline gel eyeliner is no longer hardened?
Note: In case you add a little too much of Eye Mo at the beginning, use a Q-tip to absorb the extra Eye Mo drop.

Here’s a comparison of a hardened gel eyeliner and a revived hardened gel eyeliner.

You obviously can tell which is before and which is after.
I got this pot of Maybelline gel eyeliner from Vivien on my 22nd birthday which is on November 2010 and after much using it, it became such a hassle for me to put it on because it hardened.
Finally I can revive it and use it like it’s brand new, easy to glide on like it’s first time.

I’m not too sure if it’ll be as smudge proof or waterproof, as I’ve not tried wearing it and jumping into the pool yet.
But I put it on yesterday and it seems to be normal.

Now now, it’s your time to revive your hardened gel eyeliner and save some money!
Give it a try and you’ll be surprise! And be as happy as me!! (: (:

This is my first post related to make up.
Maybe up next I’ll make a post on my liquid eyeliner which I think it’s too darn good for me.
Happy Saturday everyone! (:

Hey hey!
How’s Dragon year treating everybody so far?
It’s the 8th day already, time is definitely zooming away!

I enjoyed my Chinese New Year and I really hope it didn’t pass by this fast.
I WANT MOARRRR!!!

I’ve been wanting to go to a temple for some praying lately and I finally spent my Monday afternoon doing it.
I went to Sin Sze Si Ya Temple which is located at Petaling Street, and coincidentally they offered ‘Sip Tai Sui’ service.
I’m not too sure if every temple offers ‘Sip Tai Sui’ service because this is the first time I came across it.

Some of the people who landed on my blog googled for ‘Sip Tai Sui’ because I’ve once mentioned about it and so I decided to blog about it for real this time since I’ve already did it and know how to.
But before I go deeper into that, I would like to let you know more about Sin Sze Si Ya Temple. (I sound like an old grandma promoting a temple dafuq.)

Sin Sze Si Ya Temple is no ordinary temple. It has been there since 1864 and it is built by Yap Ah Loy, almost 150 years located along Jalan Tun H.S Lee

Located in the Chinatown area near Central Market, the temple was built by Kapitan Yap Ah Loy-one amongst the founders of KL, in 1864. Sze Ya Temple is the local version of Sin Sze Si Ya Temple. Its unique structure is a fine specimen of the traditional Chinese architecture, based on Feng Shui principles. The temple boasts of elaborate interiors and intricate roof ridges. It is said to have been built by craftsmen from southern China.

The temple is dedicated to Sin Sze Ya and Si Sze Ya, the patron deities of the residents of Kuala Lumpur. Sze Ya Temple is different in a way that the deities worshipped here are not the Chinese traditional deities, rather two people who were elevated to the position of deities for their merit. It is believed that the prophecies of Sze Ya guided these people during the Selangor Civil War and made them to triumph. And that’s how, these people happened to be worshipped by the locals.

Source : Sze Ya Temple

The temple was first built by Yap Ah Loy in the 1864 in honour of the famous Kapitan Shin Kap of Sungei Ujong (present day Seremban) whom Yap Ah Loy had worked for before and during the Sungei Ujong conflict in 1859. During this conflict, Kapitan Shin’s hurriedly assembled force was defeated and Kapitan Shin himself was beheaded after being captured by the opposing Malay forces. His death was extraordinary in that the blood that gushed out after his head was chopped off was white and not red. In Malay belief, the spilling of white blood by a dying person indicates that the person is a saint. When the Malays saw this, they begged for forgiveness and allowed the Chinese to retrieve his body for burial. As a result of Kapitan Shin’s miraculous death, the local Chinese began to worship him as a deity and he became the guardian deity for Chinese miners in Malaya.

It was said that Kapitan Shin had appeared to Yap Ah Loy in a dream telling him to go to Kuala Lumpur where he would have better prospects. Perhaps it was due to this dream or that Yap Ah Loy had heard stories that Kuala Lumpur possessed large tin reserves, that he finally decided to foresake the Sungei Ujong Kapitanship that he had inherited, and take up Liu Ngim Kong’s (the then Kapitan Cina of Kuala Lumpur) offer of a position in his business.

When Yap Ah Loy succeeded Liu Ngim Kong to become the third Kapitan Cina of Kuala Lumpur, he relocated Kapitan Shin’s temple from its original site in Sungei Ujong to a house in Kuala Lumpur in 1864.

In 1885, after he had made a fortune from the soaring tin prices, he relocated the temple to its present site at the north end of Jalan Petaling in Kuala Lumpur. It was said that during the Civil War, Kapitan Shin had appeared several times to Yap Ah Loy in his dreams to give him advice. He advised Yap Ah Loy to train archers, and that there was a man among his soldiers who knew how to make rockets with bamboo and gunpowder.

The identity of the second effigy is less certain. The temple’s version of the story says that subsequent to the civil war, Yap Ah Loy added the effigy of Chong Piang (also known as Chong Sze) alongside Kapitan Shin’s, as well as tablets of soldiers who perished in the war, so that people may pay respects to them.

Some history class going on here haha.
I’m very lazy to rewrite and rephrase everything okay! Must make full use of copy and paste, such a great invention!

So, for 2012 Dragon Year the four chinese zodiacs that ‘Fan Tai Sui’ are Dragon, Dog, Goat, and Ox.

Tai Sui 太歲, is actually how the ancient Chinese astronomy name the planet of Jupiter. The word Tai 太 means very big, biggest, or grand, and the word Sui 歲 means age. The ancient Chinese observe the pattern of how the planet of jupiter orbits and cycle around planet earth in 365.5 days to record their calendar of a year. Therefore, this planet is called the Tai Sui, because it cycle onces around our planet and a year pass by. Now what is “fan tai sui”?

Around the planet of Jupiter, there are 60 little moons. (Science proven) There are 4 biggest moons that orbits around the planet of jupiter that do not orbits with the same direction of Jupiter. Therefore the counter force created frictions in energy over time and creates a beam of harmful radiation like energy that beams through the sun and through earth as well. Every year, there are then 4 different beams of these harmful energy that will affect everything on earth including human beings. The energy is not as harmful as those like nuclear bombs but then it is a very subtle energy beam that will get your life bumpy, stuck, and a lot of things just don’t go right, creating conflicts, arguments and lots of frustrations that make your year hard to walk.

Source: Fan Tai Sui

To some people, this is ridiculous.
Yes, it might be but this to me is called ‘求个安心’ which in a way means ‘praying to make self feel better’ LOL.
A lot of people pray to make themselves feel better okay! Don’t deny!
So the first and foremost before you go to “Sip Tai Sui’, you need to know the time and your date of birth.
Everyone knows their date of birth so that wouldn’t be a problem but most of us do not know what time we first came to this world.
For ‘maximum effect’, please check out your birth certificate for your time of birth.

Of course the next step is to go to the temple, then get a number from the counter and wait for your turn.
Also, take note for bananas like me who do not know how to write in Chinese, please at least know how to write your Chinese name.
Because without your Chinese name, it wont work.
The uncle who worked there will then write whatever that is needed onto some kind of Chinese praying yellow paper and you’re good to go …… to pay money.
Pay, grab your stuff that is given to you and you can start praying.
And you’re done!

I prayed a lot this afternoon and I ‘Kao Chim’ (Chinese Fortune Sticks) too and the auntie told me it’s a rather good ‘Chim’ whereby I’ll get what I asked for if only I’ll work hard for it.
I was really happy upon hearing that!
God has been treating me good thus far because each and everytime I ‘Kau Chim’, I did not get any ‘Har Har Chim’. (:
In case you don’t know, ‘Har Har Chim’ means ‘Down Down Chim’ which means bad fortune sticks.
I better not jinx it!

So for those who ‘Fan Tai Sui’ this year and would like to ‘Sip Tai Sui’, you can go to Sin Sze Si Ya Temple to ‘settle’ it.
For those who are on the luckier side, you can still go over and pray for yourself and your family members.
And finally for those who do not believe in whatever I said, you too can go over to have a look at this historical temple for viewing pleasure. (:

This time round I did not take any pictures of the temple because Fatty once told me that it is very rude to take pictures in a temple, so I try not to.
Exception: When I travel LOL.

“Sen ah Sen, bou yao ngo, ngo dit ouk kei yan, ngo geh fei zai and ngo geh peng yao chun bou ping ping on on, shen tei gin hong, on on lok lok, mou chuen mou lan, sang sang sing sing, and most importantly mm hou fan chin geh issue! Also please bou yao ngo loh dou HUI MELBOURNE GEH WORKING AND HOLIDAY VISA!!!!!!
Mm goi sai, and tin har tai ping.”

I was given the opportunity to organize a bazaar at my workplace 2 weeks ago as you all have known.
Half given actually because I randomly suggested that we should organize a bazaar.
I was sort of the full time organizer but of course with the help of my designer colleagues who gave full support.
Came up with the name Big Market, set the date and we’re good to get it started.
I handpicked most of the vendors, emailed and tried to keep them updated.
Did a floor plan with one of my designer colleague and also try my hardest to promote the bazaar to as many people as possible.

Some pictures from that day.

* I look so tiny beside my fatty

* I did not only organize the bazaar, I have a booth on that day too. I like my old wooden table!

* FHL again for accompanying me through the entire event. Haha

* This is the homemade scones I was selling on that day, made by fatty’s mom. Incredibly delicious and smells extremely good when I heat up the scones. We have about 60 scones and we sold off almost everything. (:

* Handmade by Ben and me, also with the help of bff for helping me paint the wood when I’m mad busy.

* Mossery by one of my designer colleagues. She designed and produced all of the notebooks! Very affordable too.

If you haven’t know already, I’m currently working on an event.
It’s a flea market called Vintage Christmas Market and it’s happening tomorrow, Saturday from 11am to 6pm at my office.
I know having a flea market in an office sounds pretty weird but my office is no ordinary office.
Not those normal office with partitions and all.
We’re now trying to turn our office into a mini vintage market, hah.

This is my first time making an event happen with the help of my designer friends.
Just a small indoor market for a test run, specially dedicated to local designers and crafters.

I’m pretty excited about this and I’ll have a booth too on that day, selling scones baked by boyf’s mom (:
I hope I don’t finish eating all of them, it’s too darn good.

I’ll probably be dead tired in this coming two days, hope it’s all worth it.

Please support and join me this Saturday, hehe.

Hmm, hello? Wtf I know that’s lame. But ya, I’m not Peggy Chow who is writing this post. I’m a shameless friend of her to ask her to give me this opportunity to write a blog post. I just feel like writing out of a sudden. D:

I’ve knew her for long, well I would say it’s long enough for me and her to get this strong bond. As we grow older (fml I think we are getting older aren’t we?) I realize it’s just so hard to get a friend like that. It’s never easy. I remember clearly some words from a very good friend of both of us. She said “friends are forever”. I never quite thought about it until I heard it from her, and like I said earlier, as days go by, people come and go, those who actually made the effort to stay, is rare. We can always understand each other easily, even people around us who is actually listening to our conversation don’t really know what we actually on about, we sort of like having a secret language or code, that can only understand by me and her. And I’m loving it. (:

Think properly, it’s actually harder to maintain a friendship than a relationship. Well, at least to me it is. Friendship doesn’t involve commitment, it’s based purely on trust. You are not obliged to update what’s happening around you lately, you are not obliged to keep in touch with them, you do it on your own, your own will. What more when I’m not even around her? I’m in this land, far away from home, it’s even harder with the huge time difference that we got. But nevertheless, we still make it through and here I am, writing my very first blog post. (:

In this month of November, which is kinda special to me. Probably is me that having too much time in my hand, makes me think even more. This is our favorite month I must say, and the reason for it is clear. *evil grins*
But ironically, we only celebrated each other’s birthday for once. Ya, you got me right, it’s only once in these 7 freaking years. I think we got some curse for it or something. )): is there anyone out there that can break the curse for us? D:

For me leaving my beloved country to live and study overseas it’s a really good experience I must say. It tells me a theory that I’ve already knew “幸福不是必然” I knew it, but I never actually felt the meaning of it, not until I leave Malaysia. Friend like this never easy to find and I must say that I’m very very very lucky to have one. Families that are always with me is precious. They are my everything. They are there no matter what I’ve done, how rebellious I was, they are there to forgive me, encourage me, giving me support and what not. They are everything that I needed.

Relationship, going overseas is killing, LDR is never fun, you don’t feel like you’re actually in a relationship when you are having a LDR. Everything feels so unreal, all you do is, video calling as if he’s beside you when you needed him. But it’s never the same, you wouldn’t get cuddle, you wouldn’t get kisses like you normally do. Everything is just so surreal. But I guess that I’m blessed, he didn’t love me any lesser, he still loves me like I never left before. Sometimes I wonder, what have I done in my past life to deserve such a perfect guy like him? I think it’s miracle (:

I think I’m pretty blessed. Good friends, good families and a good relationship. What can I ask more? How can one not blessed when you have a friend like Peggy Chow, that will share all my ups and down. She never went away when I was down, she’s always there when I needed her, she’s always here to share all my happiness and the downside in my life. She’s the one who will cheer me up when I’m not, giving me advice when I’m confused, opening me up when I’m overly stubborn. I’m blessed to have her.

But here again, another year that I couldn’t sing happy birthday song to my bff. The thought itself makes me sad already. )): but nevertheless, I know that she will still have a great one with her love one around her, and this makes me feel better and happy for her, truly from the bottom of my heart. (:

Okay, I think I’m writing a really really long essay here. I guess I should stop rambling in case you guys got too bored and blame Peggy Chow for this ><

And lastly, happy birthday Peg, may you have a great one. (:

Lots of love. xx
Sincerely,
Your partner in crime

Not the one in Hong Kong. Somewhere further away.

And this too. The best pizza I ate in my life is the pizza I ate in Italy. I want to do this again, enjoying every bite with the boyf because we both love eating as much.

Tried crepe in Melbourne and love it. I can imagine the crepes in France.
