25th Birthday Getaway : Japamala Resort – Day 2

On the second day, we both have to wake up at 5am in order to catch our 7am ferry at Mersing jetty to get to Japamala Resort.
It was about an hour and a half drive from Johor Bahru to Mersing Jetty and it is not advisable unless you really want to / have to stop at Johor Bahru.
Roads are bumpy, full with holes and most of the time there’s only one lane. All of these drive my boyfriend crazy haha.

From KL, you probably need about 5 hours of drive to Mersing Jetty and another one hour plus of ferry to Tioman or you can just fly to Tioman’s airport through Berjaya Air for only an hour.
Fatty swear to never drive to Mersing again (LOL) and claimed that he did it just because I wanted to go to Johor Bahru.
Okay I give him extra 50 points lah for being such a sweet boyfriend as he claimed to be.

There’s only one ferry company and it’s called Bluewater Express. Ticket is RM35 per way for an air-conditioned ferry which if were to compare is far from Macau’s ferry.
Not to mention they are also very bad at their services because on the day we left, they were behind schedule for more than one and a half hour.
What’s worse is that they are not even apologetic and kept shouting that they can only fit 50 passengers right there and then.
So what about the others who waited at the jetty for about 2 hours?
Lucky us we were among the 50 passengers or else I don’t know how Fatty will react. But then again you’ve got no choice because this is the only ferry company that operates which is why flying to Tioman is no doubt the best choice.

#1 Mersing jetty.

20131111-001322.jpg
#2 How the ferry looks like from the inside.

There’s a few stops and to go to Japamala Resort you’ll have to get down at the first stop, Genting.
At Genting jetty, Japamala Resort had a speedboat ready to send us to Japamala which takes only about 5 minutes.

20131111-001331.jpg
#3 You will of course have to inform Japamala on your boarding time at Mersing Jetty so that they’ll know what time they have to pick you up at Genting’s jetty.

Japamala charges Rm30 per way from Genting jetty to Japamala which I think is quite ridiculous.
Guests spend so much a day at Japamala Resort and they feel the need to charge us Rm30 per way, per person for a 5 minutes distance.
Well, that’s not very sweet of them.

You rent their room for at least about Rm500 per night, you are force to eat at Japamala too because it’s a private beach so there’s nothing else and it’ll cost at least RM30 per dish (lunch & dinner) and then you’ll most likely go for a massage for at least Rm150.
Hotel Icon at Hong Kong gave us free upgrade, free minibar and free shuttle bus lor okay.
It’s not that I don’t have the money, it’s just that why don’t they be a little kind/sweet instead of erm say money minded? PFFT! Okay lah actually this is my only complain and I only got angry like now when I blog. It didn’t occur to me when I was there that they shouldn’t charge the guests, guess I was too happy to give a shit lol.

Plants, animals and land have been disturbed as little as possible. It’s been our goal to build around nature – to respect and preserve the inherent beauty of this destination; to coexist with all who dwell here. Great care has been taken to minimize any environmental impact. No rocks were moved, no trees were cut down. As a result no two Villas are the same. Each is unique – taking on the character of the land upon which it is built.

Truly appreciate their love for nature that instead of building what they want, they decided to build around the nature and adjust to it’s shapes and forms.
I heard there were monkeys, sometimes dipping themselves into one of Japamala’s pool early in the morning. :)

#4 Walking towards the lobby from Japamala’s jetty.

20131111-001655.jpg
#5 It was drizzling when we arrived cause it was monsoon season. Pfft!

20131111-001831.jpg
#6 Breakfast is included and because we have to leave real early the next day due to the stupid Bluewater Express’ schedule, we had our breakfast on the day we arrived instead.

20131111-001842.jpg
#7 It’s a small breakfast buffet with ala-carte that you can order.

20131111-002017.jpg
#8 Right next to Tamarind Restaurant, where we had our breakfast.

Japamala Resort is owned by Samadhi Retreats and so are Neo Tamarind, Tamarind Springs, and so on.
We didn’t get to check in until 12pm because I requested for Room 16 which has the best view among the Sea Cliff Chalet.
so we just walked around, checked out the places and took a nap at one of their cabanas.

20131111-002203.jpg
#9 We had to climb a number of stairs in order to reach our room. I was panting every time.

20131111-002237.jpg
#10 Gosh I miss this!

20131111-002337.jpg
#11 Rm660 were charged for a night stay at Sea Cliff Chalet and this is the price for non-peak season due to monsoon. Full rate will be Rm890 per night.

Tips: Must request for Room 16 if you’re taking Sea Cliff Chalet, it has got the best view.

#12 Spot my balloon! Yes, I brought my balloon all the way. :D

20131111-002616.jpg
#14 Every time we go to nice hotel or resort I’ll tell Fatty, ‘Bay, next time we put this in our house’ and obviously for this time, I want THIS in our garden. So demanding haha.

20131111-002634.jpg
#16 If not for the monsoon, the sea will be a lot bluer than this. I was actually surprised that Tioman is included in a ‘Island-you-must-go’ kind of list.

20131111-002655.jpg
#17 One of the Sea Cliff Chalet opposite ours. Don’t know how they see the sea lah, surrounded by trees.

After settling down, Fatty went for his massage while I took a shower and rest in the room.
There’s only one masseuse so we have to take turns and it’s quite a turn off when couples cant do their massage together.
I was like, ‘HAR!? :( :( :( ‘ because we’re left with no choice. Definitely time consuming.

20131111-002919.jpg
#18 Different types of massage will have different venue and this is one of the venue.

20131111-003045.jpg
#19 While this is the second, a room for Thai massage.

Fatty’s massage was RM150 and as for mine, I took Head and Shoulder massage for Rm125 which lasts both of us an hour.
The masseuse was so good I actually fell asleep and that is rare for me cause I hardly sleep during massage.
We also book a Jacuzzi for two for RM100 and while they take their time to prepare and heat it up, we went off to take some pictures.

#25 This is the best! The backrest is 45 degree angle that is perfect for you to rest on and just do nothing.

20131111-003923.jpg
#29 Then it’s jacuzzi time! Jacuzzi that was filled with bubbles and two pots of hot tea by the side for us to enjoy.

20131111-004131.jpg
#30 The jacuzzi was ze bomb! There was bubble everywhere and it smells so good!

Due to me being the cheapskate me, I was in the jacuzzi for about half an hour even though I know I shouldn’t.
When I get out of the jacuzzi, I almost fainted. I couldn’t stand the dizzyness I dropped on the floor. T_T
Dahlah got low blood pressure, still want to put myself in a hot tub for that long. Haha, I hate myself sometimes.

20131111-004038.jpg
#31 Hahaha stupid boyfriend tried to used bubble to make himself look like a santa claus.

20131111-004732.jpg
#32 Went off to snorkeling after Jacuzzi. My first time snorkeling with Fatty and my first time wearing flippers too. It was fun!
Snorkeling equipment can be rent for free.

20131111-004745.jpg
#33 HAHAHAH! So ugly!

20131111-004951.jpg
#34 “Why did you take picture of my ass!?’ Haha cause I can’t really see the screen and I just randomly snap whatever I could.

20131111-004924.jpg
#35 Fatty was so busy swimming and snorkeling, he didn’t help take pictures of me snorkeling. Meh, so I have to self layan and take my fingers instead.

20131111-004851.jpg
#36 There were lots of fishes swimming around and I was particularly drawn to this colourful fish. I also saw sea cucumber and sea urchin.
Showered after snorkeling and off we went for happy hour.
From 6pm to 7pm everyday, Japamala will have happy hour and offers free drinks and snacks for guests.

#44 Beef.

20131111-005940.jpg
#45 Lobster tagliatelle.

Food was really decent and up to standard. I especially love their beef carpacio and lobster tagliatelle.
I didn’t want to order their soup but Fatty always tends to order a lot. Something he totally inherited from his dad, over order during meals.
Total damage done was Rm341 excluding tax.

I asked Fatty, ‘You didn’t get me cake ah? You didn’t ask them to prepare cake for me meh?’ with puppy eyes and he said he did not.
So I replied, ‘WHY? :( :( You can just ask them for cake they have it one!’ and Fatty beh tahan me so he had to screw up his surprise and said ‘Got lah, got lah. Aiyo this girl’. HAHAHA!

20131111-010124.jpg
#46 Yay! The type of cake that I dislike the most, chocolate cake. HAHA!

20131111-010117.jpg
#47 I couldn’t be happier, really. :)

20131111-010109.jpg
#48 Thank you baby for celebrating yet another birthday with me. He somehow promised that for my birthday every year, we’ll go for a getaway. As the Chinese says, ‘listen first lah’ (teng ju sin). Hehe. :)

20131111-010208.jpg
#49 Despite the monsoon season, the sea was really blue the next morning when we woke up. Imagine normal sunny days, this will be your paradise.

I only wish that we can stay for another night cause I’m a greedy girl like that. Haha.
I had the time of my life, relax, fun, and lots of laughter on my birthday.
Despite being the oldest I have ever been right now, this year’s birthday is one of the best.

Great getaway and I also finally have the ability to get myself a birthday present that I’ve wanted all this years.
The latest Iphone! Hehehe.
Don’t want to jinx it but God has been very generous to me this year, I cant thank God enough. :)

P/S: My blog just turned 7 too.

25th Birthday Getaway : Johor Bahru – Day 1

A quarter of century gone!
I’m afraid I have to agree to the saying that age is just a number.
I am still very much a kid at heart, my boyfriend knows best.

I guess the only part that makes me feel like a 25 is that I get tired more often compared to few years ago.
There are times where I used to conflict myself by very looking forward to my own birthday but at the same time dislike the aging part.
Then it strikes me, why am I dreading the aging part? It’s a blessing in disguise.
We should all feel blessed to have the chance to age and to grow, despite the number. It’s just a number after all.

Even if we look older, even if we have more wrinkles and what not we should all be grateful that we stand a chance at all.
I feel especially blessed to have another year surrounded by people I love, my family, my other half and my friends. :)

For this year’s birthday I actually planned for a getaway at Alang Rawa but I never seemed to get a reply from them after sending a few emails. Are they close during monsoon season or are they just that bad in replying? :(
I’ve been telling Fatty that I wanted to go to Alang Rawa since ages ago but it just didn’t happen.
I’ll just have to wait for my bff to be back next year and make this happen, pfft.

Fatty suggested Japamala Resort at Tioman and since I also wanted to go check out Johor Bahru because I’ve never really been there, my plan to Alang Rawa changed.
Johor Bahru and Tioman Island it is.

We occupied our time at Johor Bahru on the first day and drove to Mersing on the second.
Due to the fact that we’re gonna spend quite an amount of money at Tioman, I decided to choose a much more affordable hotel for our stay at Johor Bahru.

surroundings-1-1024x682
#1 I am Jazz Hotel at Bandar Baru Permas Jaya for only Rm100 a night.

the-hotel-3-1024x682
#2 It’s a decent hotel with basic amnesties.

room-and-suites-1-1024x682
#3 It’s not that bad for a Rm100 room isn’t it? Pictures are from their website by the way.

We arrived at Johor Bahru during noon time, almost evening.
First stop was IT Roo cafe to get our hunger fix at Johor Bahru Old Town.
Claimed as ‘Best Chicken Chop in Malaysia’, IT Roo is one of the oldest established Hainanese restaurant in Johor Bahru.

20131110-124438.jpg
#4 I ordered Grilled Black Pepper Chicken Chop while Fatty ordered Fried Chicken Chop in Mushroom sauce. Fried chicken chop was a lot better than the grilled one, it was crispy and crunchy with the batter mix which I quite like. Fatty however prefer Yut Kee’s chicken chop more than IT Roo’s.

20131110-124447.jpg
#5 Root beer float will always be the bomb no matter where.

20131110-124353.jpg
#6 Contrast, love the colours of the door and the grills. I also dyed my hair, violet brown or something like that and red ends.

20131110-124613.jpg
#10 A little reminder.

20131110-124455.jpg
#11 Second stop : Chaiwalla & Co, a container cafe.

20131110-124534.jpg
#12 Container is love! But I wish they sell better drinks instead of drinks like bubble tea.

20131110-124503.jpg
#13 Chaiwalla do sell desserts too.

#19 Roost.

20131110-124810.jpg
#20 Roost Repurposed & Recycled that’s just few shops away from Roost. They mainly serve drinks, yogurts, and salads.

20131110-124744.jpg
#21 Fascinated by the fact that the shop owner built almost all the furniture himself, I made it a point that I have to at least drop by.

20131110-124819.jpg
#22 When I have a house of my own, I really do prefer doing-it-myself too instead of buying because that way I get to have what I really want. I only wish that Fatty will agree with me and we can get our hands dirty together in the future. :D

20131110-124904.jpg
#23 A rather different approach from KL’s cafes designs.

20131110-124912.jpg

#28 How you can make full use of unwanted cups.

20131110-125055.jpg
#29 My Fatty who dreaded going to JB with me but it’s not so bad after all.

We were really full from all the coffees but my boyfriend has got this hope that we can actually eat some Johor Bak Kut Teh. Unfortunately Bak Kut Teh restaurants at Johor closes really early. Would actually love to try it.
I also secretly wanted to go to Danga Bay after I saw online that there’s a funfair over there but I kept quiet because funfair doesn’t sound so much like a Fatty’s thing.
To my surprise, he said he wanted to bring me over without me even mentioning anything about Danga Bay. :D

20131110-125130.jpg
#30 Yay!! Funfair!! :D

20131110-125137.jpg
#31 I was extremely happy like a little kid.

It’s a permanent funfair and I must say it’s a really good one. It’s big, filled with a lot of rides.
A really good place for family on a Sunday evening.

20131110-125147.jpg
#33 You gotta love a two tier merry-go-round. :)

20131110-125153.jpg
#34

20131110-125217.jpg
#35 Blur picture in the train. And yes, Fatty bought me a heart shape helium balloon. Hehehe.

It was very fun especially when Fatty agrees to go on rides with me.
It’s rare that he will agree to go on a merry-go-round with me you’ve got no idea. <3 But the bumper car which he enjoyed the most made me feel like I'm about to die. The collisions were so hard I actually felt pain. Pfft! Despite that, it was a lovely lovely day. I only wish that we could arrive at Johor earlier so that I can cafe hop more. 20131110-125559.jpg

Time-4-Two at Thistle Port Dickson Resort

It was an impromptu short getaway.
I was craving for a holiday after I came back from Hong Kong mainly because I wasn’t in my happiest mood during my Hong Kong trip.
I was also desperate for a two-person holiday seeing that the last time we both had our ‘honeymoon’ getaway was during my birthday last year.
Hong Kong’s trip was not in the list seeing that we spend a lot of time being around friends and Fatty’s sister.

Opportunity came knocking on my door when Hari Raya Haji was just around the corner and I so happened came across an offer by Thistle at Port Dickson, so I thought why not.

We took their ‘Time-4-Two’ package which includes an accommodation in a sea view room, breakfast for two, welcome drink for two at Cumulus Beach Bar and one of the complement treat from below for RM495++.

-Unlimited 9-hole Golf including Club Hire
-One hour spa treatment for 2
-Unlimited Water Sports
-Dinner on arrival night

Cheapest rate starts from Rm425++ for a golf view room and the remaining treats are the same.

20131026-172809.jpg
#1 We went on Hari Raya Haji itself and there I was inside Fatty’s bathroom making sure I look fine with a selfie lol.

Fatty brought me to his site at Seremban and he took a look, making sure everything was fine before we went off for lunch.

20131026-194958.jpg
#2 He learned how to ride a bike during work and he make sure I hopped on it.

20131026-195008.jpg
#3 This is pai kia number 1.

For lunch, Fatty brought me to Asia Curry Laksa House in Seremban where he raved about their braise pork and curry laksa noodle.
Asia Curry House is located at Taman Cattleya (Jalan Berlian), it’s just where the locals eat.

20131026-173726.jpg
#4 Economy rice which consists a lot of vegetable dishes.

20131026-173614.jpg
#5 Couldn’t stop ourselves from gobbling down the rice while we wait for our curry laksa noodle, so here it is a picture of our half eaten rice. The braise pork was really good, with the right amount of fats to balance up the meat.

20131026-173606.jpg
#6 Curry laksa noodle which is a little too spicy for my liking. Not sure if so happen it was spicier that day or me being heaty but I’d say I prefer Baba Low’s curry laksa.

It took us about half an hour from Seremban to Port Dickson and along the way we saw quite a lot of Malays dressing up to celebrate Hari Raya Haji.

20131026-173535.jpg
#7 Santai Spa in Thistle Hotel and a bunch of buggies.

Among all the treats, we picked the one hour aromatic massage by Santai Spa. I figured one hour of massage in a hotel will at least cost us Rm150 and since there’s two of us it makes it Rm300 which makes it really worth it to pick a massage. Moreover, we really need one.

20131026-173524.jpg
#8 Thistle half open air lobby which is really airy.

20131026-173432.jpg
#9

20131026-173512.jpg
#10 I asked Fatty, ‘Can you get out of the frame or not!? Why must you always unintentionally appear in my picture!?’ and he decided to raised his leg up. Stupid boy.

20131026-173503.jpg
#11 I requested for a room change because the first room do not have a bathtub (sue me) so they gave me a room with bathtub and that’s higher off the ground. :)

20131026-173446.jpg
#12 The view from our room’s balcony, not bad lah. :)

20131026-173359.jpg
#13 Took a walk around Thistle and saw this human size checkers and snake & ladders. Look at that stupid boy appearing in my picture unintentionally again.

20131026-173337.jpg
#14 We walked towards the beach and saw a few cabanas but it was wet so we continue looking around.

20131026-173245.jpg
#15 Saw a very cute girl playing on a swing but at the same time I cant wait for her to be done so that I can hop on it haha.

20131026-173255.jpg
#16 Adorable is an understatement. :)

20131026-173157.jpg
#17 This is Cumulus bar by the beach and it is only open starting noon time, 3pm if I’m not mistaken.

20131026-173148.jpg
#18 It’s a really nice place to chill by the beach and we have two complimentary drinks, so Fatty ordered a draught beer and as for me, it’s always fruit juice.

20131026-173326.jpg
#19

20131027-022959.jpg
#20 Sigh, I just love this act-handsome-boy so much!

20131026-173103.jpg
#21 Other than the family pool that we saw from our balcony, there’s an infinity pool right beside Cumulus bar. A great alternative if you don’t like to be around kids.

20131026-173218.jpg
#22 We didn’t really walk on the beach though cause I was lazy and the beach doesn’t look too inviting.

20131026-173409.jpg
#23 After done checking out Thistle, we went for our aromatic massage at Santai Spa which we scheduled at 4pm.

20131026-173235.jpg
#24 The massage was very different from what I usually had, that was my first aromatic massage and I must say things can get pretty naked. Not really comfortable with that. :\

There’s a changing room where you can take a quick shower or go for sauna if you wish.
You may actually request to go for sauna with your other half and they will try to arrange it for you at 8pm when there’s no more guest.

20131026-172709.jpg
#25 No showering or swimming after the massage for at least an hour so we changed and took another walk before jumping into the pool.

20131026-172617.jpg
#26 Super fat thighs lah I don’t know why. Maybe cause I put my entire weight on my bottoms and thighs lol! Damn!

20131026-172509.jpg
#27 Serious one! Fatty don’t know how he should take the picture cause he said ‘Your thighs very fat lah’ fml.

20131026-172517.jpg
#28 Happy girl on a wooden swing hanged on a tree. :)

20131026-172437.jpg
#29 Fatty boom boom but he shed some fats right!?

20131026-173038.jpg
#30 Or maybe not if you look closely, haha.

20131026-173639.jpg
#31 ✌

20131026-195122.jpg
#32 Not bad hor the infinity pool?

20131026-173624.jpg
#33

20131026-195053.jpg
#34 Secretly took a picture when he was enjoying whatever he was enjoying.

I bought myself a waterproof camera case and now every time when I go swimming I can use it hehehe. :D

20131026-195018.jpg
#35 It was really fun except that the water isn’t clear enough for us!

20131026-195033.jpg
#36 Damn cute hor my merman. :D

20131026-195044.jpg
#37 I didn’t bother adjusting the case properly cause I was too eager which is why you see a black rim at the corner.

20131026-172912.jpg
#38

#39 Am I the only person who think he’s cute? LOL!

#40 Really really cute wan! HAHA!

#41 My weird picture underwater.

20131026-173736.jpg
#42 Because there’s no way I can dive and open my eyes at the same time so this is the best I can do.

20131026-172759.jpg
#43 Also because I didn’t bother taking off my lens beforehand so it makes it all the more impossible to open my eyes underwater. Also if you notice, somebody is trying to pull off a handsome face. Aherm.

20131026-172851.jpg
#44 Did I spot Fatty right there?

20131027-023010.jpg
#45 We headed to Malacca for satay celup and I wanted Pak Putra after that but they wasn’t open for business. All the shops were close too, so it was a bad choice going down to Malacca. :(

20131026-173717.jpg
#46 I forced Fatty to take this picture for me, haha.

Fatty sent me to Seremban’s train station and I took KTM back to Bandar Tasik Selatan for only RM5 plus which is dirt cheap! We were reluctant to part ways but it’s a working day so there wasn’t really a choice.
Though short but we both had a great bonding time and we are now a little more in love than before haha.
That or maybe my pms has yet to hit me lol.

Time-4-Two package is made available until 31st of December this year and if you’ll like to book, do head over to Thistle’s website.
Thistle is a UK based company but maintenance and cleanliness wise, they really aren’t at their best.
The hotel and their room is nowhere near dirty but the lift has got this weird smell which I really dislike.
Addition to that, the infinity pool wasn’t very clean either and their pool table is really worn out.

Other than that, everything else was fine.

What to do / Where to go? (2)

So here’s a few more places / activities which you can add in to your where to go or what to do list.

1. Aquria KLCC

‘Aquaria KLCC is a state-of-the-art oceanarium showcasing over 5000 different exhibits of aquatic and land-bound creatures.’
I assumed most of us have heard of KLCC’s Aquaria but how many of us have really been there before?
We tend to visit other country’s Aquria but not our own or was it my wrong perception?
Perhaps it’s just me but this is my first time to our very own Aquaria KLCC.

Entrance fee in my opinion is not cheap even for Mykad holders, pricing at Rm38 for adult and Rm28 for senior citizens or children.
Upon entrance I was greeted by a bunch of piranhas but I missed out their feeding time which is at 4pm.
Be sure to go before their feeding time to avoid disappointment.

20131020-132425.jpg
#1 Corals and bamboo sharks.

20131020-132441.jpg
#2 We were allow to touch them and I touched a starfish which took me a lot of courage. I really don’t like touching sea creatures, that’s one of my phobia. Which is also why I always say no to diving lessons. Let’s just say I am really afraid of the sea, the creatures, and the unfamiliarity.

20131020-132351.jpg
#3 Land-bound creature that I hate the most. The lizards.

20131020-132337.jpg
#4 Frog seems more bearable.

20131020-132254.jpg
#5 Don’t like snake either.

20131020-132309.jpg
#6 Scorpion, eight legs, a pair of grasping claws and venomous stinger.

20131020-132402.jpg
#7 Really cute river rodent.

20131020-132138.jpg
#8 One funny looking fish that caught my attention.

20131020-132129.jpg
#9 What kind of face is this? Haha!

20131020-131739.jpg
#10 I went to Aquria with Dexter and not Fatty because he was working and cant be bothered about some stupid Aquria (lol).

20131020-132049.jpg
#11 The best part was of course the sharks because we’re all afraid of them. Feeding time for sharks is at 3pm which I missed too!

#18 Moon jellyfishes which we can have them as pet! Someday, someday.

20131020-131730.jpg
#19 Ten years of friendship.

It was quite fun looking at creatures we don’t normally get to come upon and oohing/aahing over it.
Going to Aquria will be a lot more entertaining if we could catch their feeding time but all in all it was quite a fun thing to do. If you’re up for more excitement you can sign up for their ‘cage rage’ or ‘dive with sharks’ and dive underwater, coming close to sharks and other fascinating creatures.

You can even sign up for a diving proposal package and propose to the girl you love surrounded by fishes.
Not for the faint-hearted.

2. Galeri Petronas @ KLCC

Here’s something more from KLCC if Aquria alone is not enough to fill up your day.
There’s no entrance fees, all the more better.

GALERI PETRONAS represents one of PETRONAS important contributions towards the development of a holistic Malaysian society, which is vital in ensuring the continuation of Malaysia’s economic and social advancement.
Through the gallery, PETRONAS provides a platform for expressing views and opinions on issues relating to humanity while promoting art as a universal language that transcends man-made barriers. Such endeavour is hoped to foster closer relations among the people of Malaysia, including with those from other nations, by creating a better understanding of one another’s cultures, lifestyles, beliefs and practices through art.

I’ve been there once with my lecturer and course mates for a field trip and there I was again with Fatty, browsing through arts and installations created by Malaysian young artists to express themselves.

#24 This is one of the installation that I like the most based on politics. High rank, a puppet who’s good at lying and a bunch of terracotta armies. Go figure.

Young Malaysian Artists: New Object(ion) II will be on until 24th of November so if you’re interested do go and have a look since it’s free anyway. Galeri Petronas will have exhibitions from time to time, so do go to their website and check out on the details to see if these exhibitions suit your liking.

3. Escape Room @ E-curve

Ahh, this is the one that I enjoyed the most! A new activity in town with lots of fun!
If you love crime movies, crime dramas, or crime books you will definitely love this.
If you think you can be a smart detective, here’s something to challenge yourself.

A phenomenon in Japan, China and the United States, where more than 1,000,000 people have played the game, the Real Room Escape will stage its first session in Malaysia this summer. The Room Escape game is a unique, intuitive and interactive experience where teams find mysterious clues based on various story lines to solve live puzzles and ultimately escape the room within a time limit.

So what you do is you go to Escape Room’s website and pick a room among the six rooms that they have.
Each room has their own difficulty level from level 3 to level 5.
Minimum amount of players is 2 and maximum amount of players per room is 6.

There’s only the two of us that night because I want to try it out first and make sure it’s a place worth going with friends and I picked one out of the two level 3 rooms they have which is ‘The Abandoned Factory’.
We have a total of 45 minutes to free ourselves and there’ll be one hint given if you need it.

(Spoiler for some.)

20131020-131837.jpg
#31 The first room that we went in was pitch dark and we were given a torch light to try to take this key off the maze in order to have access into another room.

20131020-131826.jpg
#32 You really need to look thoroughly through the entire room and 6 person in a room is always better than 2. One of our mistake was that we didn’t search the room upside down because Fatty was a little tired from work and I was practically just stoning haha.

20131020-131818.jpg
#33 If you think this is something easy and it’s gonna waste your time, I assure you it’s not. It is very challenging and really do need a lot of brain juice.

20131020-131810.jpg
#34

We failed that night and turned out to be the losers haha but there’s five more rooms and I am determine to go try it all.
Price ranges from Rm32 to Rm36 per pax depending on the day and time you’re gonna book.
One thing good about Escape room is that they’re open till 1am so you can always go even after your overtime.

Other than Escape Room, you may also want to try Misson-Q at Subang Jaya which offers something in similar.
Time to gather your friends and challenge yourselves. ;)

What to do / Where to go?

What to do or where to go will always be the question when weekend comes for us. Main reason being is because my other half has only one off day every three weeks which makes it all the more valuable.
Hence why we’re constantly on the lookout for new places and new activities, we both want to create new experiences and memories.

Here’s a few of the places we went to two to three weeks ago.
And if the normal dating activities bores you, you may want to give these a try.

1. Equestrian Park Putrajaya
Fatty has been telling me that he wanted to take up horse riding lessons and because I’m not only his girlfriend but a PA as well, I went on the net and researched it for him. After much research, it turned out that there’re horse riding lessons at Putrajaya for a rather affordable price compared to other equestrian clubs. Who knew there’s horse riding lesson at Putrajaya? Not me.

It was hard to make a booking due to Fatty’s schedule and we have yet to secure lessons but one day when all goes well we both will learn to ride a horse together. Lets just say hopefully by beginning of next year if not December.

Putrajaya is a really nice place to chill and relax with nice buildings on one side and greens on another. There’s also not much crowd compare to the malls so its a good place to escape once in awhile.

Taman Ekuestrian Putrajaya (TEP) is located in the Southeast section of Precinct 5. TEP is built on an estimated 70-acre spread overlooking the lush Putrajaya greenery and can be found at the edge of a hilltop where prestigious Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) sits. Taking advantage of these natural surroundings, TEP provides an attractive location for riders to experience new environment and sporting background for leisure and competitions.

Despite the fact that we didn’t manage to book any lessons, we still did went to Equestrian Park Putrajaya to check the horses out.
20131017-145334.jpg
#1 Upon arrival, the first pony I met was Tun Dr. Mahatir’s grandchild’s pony. How so adorable!

20131017-144938.jpg
#2 Meet Peggy and Sultan, the midgets.

20131017-145306.jpg
#3 SO ADORABLE! But Sultan’s a little ganas though or else I would’ve try to ride on it.

20131017-145242.jpg
#4 Horses are real adorable too!

20131017-145255.jpg
#5 Such delicate animal and I do somehow have a soft spot for them because my dad’s favorite animal is a horse.

20131017-145043.jpg
#6 No idea why this black horse stick it’s tongue out, too hot maybe?

20131017-145003.jpg
#7 No make up face because I was real lazy that day.

I told Fatty if one day we ever own a horse, I want to name it William, Will, or Willie. I want to name it after my dad, if we ever have the money haha.

2. DPAC (Damansara Performing Arts Centre)
If outdoor activities ain’t your thing, you can always stay indoor but avoid the malls at the same time.
We both went to DPAC at Empire Damansara to catch a play on a Friday night and I must say I really like both the Empire Damansara and DPAC a lot. DPAC has a great unique design inspired by retro 60s theaters and though the theater room is small,it’s for the best. There’re different kinds of plays, dances and musical available at DPAC every week and you can get their schedule information on their website.

20131017-144638.jpg
#8 Broadway inspired.

20131017-144611.jpg
#9 Lounge area for guest while you wait for the scheduled time.

We went for The Spirits Play which was themed on World War 2 and I must say this play did made my hair stand a few times. Not for the drama or the act but for the music they played. Like nothing my ears have ever heard before.
It was a new experience for me and it was definitely a good one.

A rare collaboration between two Asian theatre masters for a tribute to yet another theatre doyen – Makoto Sato (Tokyo) and Danny Yung (Hong Kong) helm a group of actors, highly accomplished in Noh theatre and Kunqu opera, to bring forth a newly minted creation based upon The Spirits Play by Kuo Pao Kun. A notable work in Singapore theatre, The Spirits Play acutely pieces together the intense agony, guilt and turmoil that occur as the price of war. It serves as a memorial towards death, and a reflection upon life. Here, Makoto Sato and Danny Yung explore a fresh reinterpretation of the classic text, set within a stripped-down “one table, two chairs” format. The Noh actors from Tokyo and Kunqu actors from Nanjing are thus presented with an open platform for active dialogue on the arts, culture and history, going beyond the confines of their respective cultures and countries.

If play or musical isn’t your thing, you can still walk around Empire Damansara for a feeling not much place in KL can give you. I felt like I was transported to another place and to know there’s such a beautiful place here in our city, makes me really happy.

20131017-144806.jpg
#21 I.M Pei’s Bank of China inspired?

I enjoyed walking around Empire Damansara and I believe going over again during day time will lead me to new discovery.
I too enjoyed looking at buildings and architecture with my boyfriend, and although I know nothing about these things but it’s good to know that my aesthetic taste is not far from Fatty’s.

3. KLPAC (Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre)
We didn’t went to KLPAC for another play but instead we went there for dinner. KLPAC looks huge from the inside, with individual building scattered around and grasses all over. It was dark, I couldn’t tell much but I made it a point to go over again during day time.

There’s a Thai restaurant inside KLPAC called Samira by Asian Terrance and the whole restaurant gave me a very exotic Balinese wooden house kind of feeling. Additional point is that the restaurant is by a lake side that gives such a breathtaking view. This is quite a romantic place to be for a dinner but do remember to put on mosquito repellent . Lakeside, outdoor, and trees means mosquitoes besides romantic.

20131017-144549.jpg
#23 Fish cakes.

There were twenty over Tays, celebrating Fatty’s aunt’s 60th birthday. The place was great but food wise, it was mediocre. They don’t suck but not excellent either. It’s your call if you want to give Samira Thai a try but even if you don’t, you can still give KLPAC a try. Walk around, hand in hand. How nice haha.

4. Helipad Lounge at Menara KH
Not my first time here but if you haven’t been to Helipad before you may want to try it at least once in your lifetime even if it’s not KL’s helipad. I mean how often can you go on a Helipad be it with friends or your another half and just chill while enjoying the view with a glass of wine in your hand.

Some people find it boring prolly because there’s no music but other than the music that they lack off I don’t see how entertaining other pubs or bars are compared to helipad lounge. Unless you’re looking for some hardcore beer drinking with lying dice and playing cards whereby you can talk as loud as you want, then this is not the place for you.

20131017-144257.jpg
#24 Just me and our very own KL Tower.

20131017-144308.jpg
#25 Ombre hair, not.

20131017-144238.jpg
#26 That night was exceptionally bright and windy, just the way I like it.

20131017-144247.jpg
#27 Fatty and I brought his Canadian cousins and aunt to Helipad and they seem to like it. It was relaxing but do remember mosquito repellent too or you’ll get a few bites.

I heard sunset watching at Helipad is breathtaking and again due to Fatty’s schedule I won’t be able to watch it anytime near future but you should just go. Really. :)

5. Tate at Intermark
If outdoor really isn’t your thing even if its night time, Tate might just be your choice. Located inside Intermark, it’s hard to locate Tate if you didn’t do a little bit of research. There’s no signage or whatsoever to tell you that this is Tate.

20131017-144408.jpg
#28 Look for Beast, walk further up until you see this hat and in you go.

Both Beast and Tate are by Big Group.
The last time we went a year ago it was so packed we have to sit by the bar, so I made a reservation this time and got ourself a private room. :)

Tate is a nice, quiet place with jazz music playing by the background. It’s a great place for catch up with friends or you can go over for happy hour after working hours. Stress free ambiance.

You can go over as couples too and challenge each other in pool like what Fatty and I did. The pool is free by the way. It’s been a long time since I played pool in a hardcore way and I deteriorate so much. :(
About time for me to catch up and kick my boyfriends ass. Hah!

Another place that’s somewhat like Tate is Majestic Hotel’s Smoke House. Quiet, free pool, smoking zone. Heaven for some.

Indoor, outdoor, day or night, there must be something for everyone.

Macau / Hong Kong Trip – Day 05

Took me a whole month to finish up my Hong Kong post it seems.
Too busy working and watching netflix, sleeping in and going out.

Our flight heading back home from Hong Kong was at 6pm so there was still time to walk around before we went off to airport.

20131005-122339.jpg
#1 For starters, we had a buffet breakfast at Hotel Icon. The ambiance was really comfortable, there were only few people and selection of food was vary.

#2 Cakes.

20131005-122322.jpg

#5 Bicher Muesli in a jar, how cute.

20131005-122249.jpg
#6 Dim sum’s a must in Hong Kong.

Breakfast at Hotel Icon was great, unlike Macau Sheraton’s breakfast.
If you have extra bucks to spend and extra space in your tummy, you might want to try their breakfast when you’re there.

20131005-122229.jpg
#7 After our breakfast, we went all the way back to Central to eat my beef brisket noodle but turns out they aren’t open yet. :(

20131005-122208.jpg
#8 We went to Duddell Street to check out gas powered street lamp and there’s only four left in Hong Kong, all located at Duddell street.

20131005-122200.jpg
#9 How historical right?

20131005-122130.jpg
#10 After a few snaps we went to the infamous Starbucks just a stairs away.

20131005-122056.jpg
#11 Is this the coolest Starbucks or what?

‘In June 2009, Hong Kong retail design store G.O.D collaborated with Starbucks and created a store with a “Bing Sutt Corner” at their store on Duddell Street. It is a concept that fuses the retro bing sutt, a Hong Kong teahouse style with the contemporary look of a coffeehouse.’

20131005-121726.jpg
#18 After getting Chai Latte from Starbucks we met up with Fatty’s sister again for a quick lunch near Hung Hom. This is Fatty’s fish-something-something-noodle.

20131005-121744.jpg
#19 And this is my beef brisket which I super love because it was so goooood!

20131005-121506.jpg
#20 Then there’s more eating. See, that’s how I claim the title of an eating monster. Rawr.

20131005-121516.jpg
#21 Australia Dairy Co. is a really famous char chan teng.

#27 Milk tea with Fatty on the background enjoying our spaghetti.

20131005-121525.jpg
#28 D: The amount of food we ate, my goodness.

That was kinda the last meal in Hong Kong before we leave except for a quick meal at the airport.

20131005-121449.jpg
#29 That’s where I found out this is the best milk in the world but it was so expensive! HKD20 for one, pfft. Let me know if I can find it here in KL, I WANT IT!

20131005-121458.jpg
#30 Ending my post with a picture of my luggage bag that I bought from Zhu Hai for only Rm90. That’s the best deal! :)

Hong Kong is a great place and it somehow feels close to heart because I’ve been watching TVB dramas almost all my life but it is also a very expensive place to go.
Don’t think I’ll be going back to Hong Kong anytime soon and now, where’s the next destination?

After serious calculation, total damage to my savings account is Rm4000. /dead
