Food

i is can cook too.

I wonder how long it’ll take to finally have internet in the house again.
It’s taking ages and it makes it so hard for me to blog ):

Plus I just transfered some pictures into the computer, it’s such a mess now.
Meanwhile, I’ll just bombard my post with some of my cookings (:

* tried to make ‘bak zam gai’ like how my mom cook it at home. was suppose to buy drumsticks only but I figured that it’ll be more worth it if I buy a whole chicken and that whole chicken almost killed me wtf. I thought they’ll clean all the intestine and everything else for me. I’m never buying a whole chicken again, damn hard to chop some more damnit.

* ben’s the chef, his chicken ala king. too much potato and not creamy enough :X

* mushroom minute steak. he claimed that his is too raw and for me, mine isn’t raw enough but other than that it taste pretty good too.

* why the face like that?

* tell me this looks good!! japanese pasta, ben said it taste a little like pasta zanmai. i is happy :D and it’s really easy to make.

* our dinner for tonight.

* black pepper beef

* green curry chicken, a little too spicy. other than that it’s pretty good.

i’m happy every time he tells me my cooking taste good.
i didn’t know i can actually cook cause as i remember my cooking taste like shit.
oklah not shitty but it doesn’t taste as good.
i love youtube, i learned almost everything from youtube itself.
my saviour, bwahaha.

cant wait to show mom i cooked all these, she wouldn’t believe it.
she must have miss me, she called last night but i was sleeping. ):
must talk to her tonight.

cooking is so fun omg omg omg!
ben asked why your life in melbourne only about cooking. haha

2nd and 3rd at Melbourne.

I find the need to force myself to blog or else all the pictures will pile up and I’ll get even more lazier.
Good news, Ben found a new place to stay like finally. It’ll be so much easier because I can unpack my clothes and whatnot so that it wont be so messy.
And also it’s easier for me to cook :D

*forced to take picture with my kermit, stuffed into his pocket.

*that thingy behind Ben, it’s some obstacle game where we go in and pass through all the obstacle. I don’t know how to explain but it’s fun AND expensive. 5 dollar per person that’s like what, Rm15!!!

Almost everything in Melbourne is expensive. You know those white bread like Gardenia, the longer ones they sell it for like 3 dollar plus here and that’s like…. almost Rm10.
I almost fainted. Like whatthehell, it’s just white bread man.
And each meal cost like 10 dollar per person, I rather cook.
Ben’s like, let’s go eat this, let’s go eat that and I’m like… er, don’t want larh so expensive. don’t want don’t want don’t want.

* Melbourne is interesting.

* and windy.

The first meal I cooked is prawn wanton, recipe from my aunt.

*It’ll be much better if the wanton skin isn’t that thick. And the mee we bought sucks, should just have wanton alone.

* garlic cheese baguette for breakfast and tomato egg drop soup, choy sam, and garlic shrimp for dinner.

How’s my cooking!? Looks good enough? haha.
I’m kind of addicted to cooking because it’s cheap and also it gives that bit of satisfaction when my food is edible.
Maybe it’s just the first few days, let’s see if I’ll get bored of it haha.

Ben forced me to go supper with him.

* at Stalactites, Lonsdale Street.

* he said it’s greek food and yes it taste bombastic, chicken and lamb with pita bread and different kind of sauce.

But I was about to die when he paid the bill, 40 dollar wtf!
This stupid (okay, it’s not stupid but still….) supper cost Rm120!!
I can eat like ten meals in Malaysia my goodness sake. It’s crazy.
I just cant help but said to him, please don’t bring me out for food. Please don’t eat out. We can cook, zzzzz.
I don’t care if he’s gonna pay or whatsoever, it is still very EXPENSIVE!

Home cook food sometimes cost only 5dollar for the both of us. See the difference.
We’re gonna eat out tomorrow for dinner because it’s our 3rd month together, no choice because he wants to.
Nothing more than 70 dollar for the both of us, that’s what I told him.
I said 50 at first but he said it’s hard to do. pfft ):

But I bought two cheap stuff today.
Bought a red pretty pumps for 10 dollar and a home slipper from cotton on for 2 dollar.
Bwahahahahaha! Loving my red pumps larhhhh! (:

A thousand layers of crepe

If you haven’t know already what a mille crepe is, according to wikipedia it is a French cake made of many crêpe layers. “Mille” (“mil”) means “a thousand”, implying the many layers of crêpe.

One of the best crepe cake in town is of course the infamous cafe, Food Foundry.
Pretty famous for their mille crepe.

* your neighbour, your provider.

* cute little cafe full with customers.

Not only their mille crepe is a to-die-for but their meal taste pretty good too.

* Ben’s chicken cordon bleu. Okay, I’ve got not much comment for this I didn’t really tasted it but Ben likes it so I guess it’s pretty good. (RM17)

* My smoked salmon in cream sauce which is really orgasmic. The smoked salmon and the cream sauce blend so well together but I cant take too much in cause I’ll feel really bloated in the end since it’s kinda creamy. Okay, I’m missing this nasty spaghetti already! (RM17)

* mille crepes and cakes, a must have after your meal.

* vanilla flavour mille crepe. I personally like their strawberry mille crepe but since it’s Ben’s first time trying mille crepe, I choose his favourite flavour. So moisture and soft and the best part of it is it doesn’t taste too sweet. We both don’t have sweet tooth. (Rm9)

So if you’re wondering where else can we try mille crepe other than food foundry, there’s a place I found out.
Austin Chase. Yes you heard me right, at Austin Chase.

* Picked the vanilla flavour again, French Vanilla Mille Crepe. If this were to compare with Food Foundry’s, I find Austin Chase’s vanilla more fragrant. The taste of vanilla still lingers for a while. And of course, the cream is smooth. (RM13.90)

They have chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and peach & passion flavour. I’m so gonna try the peach & passion crepe next time, I feel excited. :9
Austin Chase actually ordered these mille crepes from Humble Beginnings. Trust me, you’ll be thrill by the choices from Humble Beginnings. Chessy Cheese, Mango Cheese, Oreo and so much more. oh-my-god. Really, go to their website and have a look for yourself.

And lastly, the pretty famous cafe at Malacca, Nadeje.

* They have quite a number of flavours too as I can remember.

* Rum raisin mille crepe. (Rm8+)

* Mango flavour.

Both the crepes taste okay, I’m not sure if I was too full when I tried it but it really didn’t taste as good as Food Foundry’s or Austin Chase’s.
Flavour aside, the creepe ain’t as soft and creamy either. But then again, it’s not really bad. Just not as good.
There’s tiramisu flavour but I don’t see it on the counter the other day. I don’t mind trying again.
No, actually I want to try tiramisu mille crepe. The name itself makes me salivate.

I guess among all, I like Austin Chase the most. I cant wait to try the other flavours out.
My brother dislike mille creepe, he said it feels like ‘fu chuk tong sui’ when he bites it. Haha, what a comment.
As for Ben, I think he might ban mille crepe for the rest of his life.
After eating mille crepe from malacca he went home, (already so damn full) and ate his mom’s cooking.
The next day he fall sick, vomit and everything and he put the blame on mille crepe.
Digestion problem but he blame it on the innocent crepe.

Like for reals now everytime when I mentioned mille crepe, he feels like vomiting.
Such a turn off, I still wanna try other mille creepes!!!

Lunch @ Marufuku

I’m a sucker for Ramen but eating Udon once in awhile wont hurt.
Plus Udon is always cheaper than Ramen. Stupid Ramen, why are they so expensive?
Went over to Marufuku for Udon, located at Jaya One.

* Small, clean and tidy.

* Their menu.

* You have to walk in and do the ordering yourself, touch screen monitor.

* Cant go wrong with some side dishes.

* Sorry I cant remember Japanese name well. Rm1 per stick.

* Karaage and Kakiage, Rm1 each too. Why are these names so confusing?

* If you are a egg lover like I am, do order their House Special Udon which cost only Rm6. Can be served hot or cold, you can even add an extra egg if one egg cant satisfy you. This is really gooooood.

* Nabeyaki Udon with prawn tempura dan lain-lain – Rm10.

I’m not sure if this taste better than Sanuki Udon, the one Vivien likes to go a lot. I only tasted Sanuki Udon once, I cant quite remember. I shall go back and try again when I have the chance.
But price wise, Sanuki Udon is a little bit more cheaper.

Marufuku’s Udon is chewy, chewy and chewy. If you like chewy Udon, maybe you can give it a try.
A bowl of cold Udon on a hot day or a bowl of hot Udon on a cold day, both are equally good.
And oh, their green tea is refillable. (:

Second attempt cooking carbonara

So, this is my second attempt cooking carbonara spaghetti.
The first time was quite a failure.
I cooked it with potato campbell soup which I at first do not intend to let anyone find out about it.
The boys went to my place for mahjong (midnight) and I cant wait till the next morning to cook.
I rather cook than play mahjong, imagine that.
Three boys playing mahjong while I try my very best to produce a plate of fail carbonara spaghetti.
They asked me how I cooked it. Of course I’m not gonna tell them that I used campbell soup.
But Alvin found out when he went to toilet, he saw my campbell soup’s can and that expression on his face is unforgettable.
He’s kind of shocked and gave me the wtf face, hahaha.
It’s edible but doesn’t taste nice, plus my spaghetti isn’t cook enough.

Tried cooking it the real way the other day and I guess it kind of work.
I just followed step by step from youtube.
Wanted to surprise the boyf (I told him I’m bring him out for dinner) but while I was cooking halfway I realised the parmesan cheese at home cant be use anymore.
Lousy! Have to called him and asked him to help buy parmesan cheese. There goes the stupid surprise.

Ingredients:
spaghetti.
2 eggs.
parmesan cheese (grated).
pecorino cheese
blackpepper.
bacon.
olive oil.

1# cooked the spaghetti.
2# fry (or whatever you called it) the bacon with olive oil.
3# beat both the eggs.
4# add cheese and mix it with the eggs.
5# dry the spaghetti and put it into the pan where you fried the bacon.
6# add in a little bit of water and the bowl of eggs.
7# add in more cheese.
8# add blackpepper.

that’s about it.
2 eggs for 2 portion. one egg for one.
what a fail instruction, I know.
I don’t know how the measurement goes, just put as you prefer. More cheesy or less cheesy.
I actually did not use parmesan cheese cause I figured that’s a little too hassle for him to buy me the cheese.
I use some other cheese powder that I bought earlier.

Ben thinks it’s nice, I’m not sure if he said that to just make me happy or what.
It’s only cheesy but not creamy as I did not put in any cream and he likes it that way because he said he always feel bloated after eating really creamy carbonara.
Maybe it’ll taste better if I use both the right cheese.

I tried making unbake lemon cheesecake too but fail max as it was too watery and sour. :(
I shall try that again!!

It’s time for me to learn how to really cook a good meal. (:

Dinner at 7atenine

Had a random-berdress up-dinner with ze bf last Tuesday.
No special occasion.
Have been wanting to try out 7atenine since ages ago when I saw some pictures of it on the net and when he said dinner at 7atenine I was really happy (inside my heart, didn’t show it to him haha).

* My Rm25 dress with a Rm7 thin belt. I love cheap bajus :twisted:

We shared a four course meal because we can never finish one by ourselves.
I always fail to remember the name of the food.

* Some shrimp salad thingy that taste o-k-a-y only.

* This I can remember. Soup of the day wtf. I like the soup, creamy enough but not too creamy till you feel bloated after drinking it.

* Foie gras with steak something something. Bf loves foie gras!! The beef is tender enough but will be better if it’s a little bit more raw.

* And of course our dessert, Tiramisu. We both quite like it as it’s not too sweet. Soulmate wtf, we both don’t really like sweet stuff.

* Was a little disappointed at the interior. I don’t know why but I thought the place will look super nice. I just have this very nice picture in my brain wtf. And I dislike their chair, not comfy ): but I do like their lighting.

Just chill and snap some pictures after meal.
So sorry now I’m gonna spam some shamless pictures, bwaha!

* fail. too dark.

* fail. his upper head went missing but I actually quite like this picture. heh.

* fail. i look ugly but since he looks so cute, i’ll sacrifice a little and post this up.

* fail. he said he looked like Aaron here which I agree. HAHAHA! the more I look at this picture, the more he looks like Aaron here. HAHAHAHA!!
